This was of course following the deadly tragedy that occurred at Astroworld, where 14 people were deceased, and several others injured, in a crowd surge at the concert. The announcement of his removal from the lineup was done following [a petition created on Change.org](https://www.change.org/p/aeg-remove-travis-scott-as-a-goldenvoice-performer) demanding that Travis Scott be removed from the lineup. The signature campaign received over 60,000 signatures, and was created only days after the Astroworld concert in Houston. The team at Coachella told Travis Scott’s team that they intended on removing him from the lineup, [according to Variety](https://variety.com/2021/music/news/travis-scott-out-coachella-2022-performance-astroworld-1235131349/) . The artists were set to perform at the Festival in 2020 before the postponement happened due to COVID-19 and safety precautions. Coachella Festival 2022 was already sold out earlier this year when people heard about much of the same 2020 lineup being postponed to a later date.  Travis Scott finally spoke to Charlamagne Tha God about the incident in a 51-minute long video on YouTube explaining how he “didn’t know what was going on,” and how “none of the fans shouted out to him asking him to stop.” There was also no apology from his side, just mere disbelief repeatedly, leaving a lot of families, friends and fans distressed over how the whole situation was being handled. The Day N Vegas festival that took place mid-November also announced on their Twitter that Travis Scott would not be performing at the festival. Post Malone replaced Scott on the bill.  [According to Digital Music News](https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2021/11/19/is-travis-scott-cancelled-after-astroworld/) , matters have really gone south as a huge lawsuit seeking $2 billion in damages on behalf of 282 plaintiffs had been filed against Travis Scott, rapper Drake, Live Nation, Apple, and many others. In a statement, the head lawyer Thomas J. Henry said that the defendants stood to make a huge amount of money from this event as it is, but still chose to cut costs and put attendees at risk. The report continues to state that a second case filed by lawyer Tony Busby representing 125 plaintiffs also seeks an additional $750 million in damage from the same companies, as well as promotion and security companies involved at the event. Nike also confirmed the postponement of the launch of Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack after the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival. Apple’s multi-million dollar investment into promotions of Astroworld through Apple Music and otherwise, have also led to them being roped into millions of dollars of loss over this incident.
