Highly Anticipated Movies You Should Watch in January 2022

Along with the theatrical releases, movies are now also being released on OTT platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, HBO Max, and more! This can make it a little complicated to keep track of some exciting movies coming out. We thought we’d help you catch up with some of the most anticipated releases every month by compiling a list of movies spanning from theatrical releases to those out on streaming platforms. Keep an eye on this space every month so you don’t miss some amazing movies!

 

The 355 – January 7

In the film ‘The 355’, a top-secret weapon falls into mercenary hands. This leads to CIA agent Mason “Mace” Brown (played by Oscar-nominated and the It: Chapter Two, ‘Scenes From A Marriage’ and The Eyes of Tammy Faye star Jessica Chastain) needing to join forces with a rival badass German agent.

The agent is Marie (Diane Kruger). Mace also comes together with former MI6 ally and cutting-edge computer specialist Khadijah ( the ‘Us’ and Black Panther star and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o) as well as a skilled Colombian psychologist Graciela (Oscar winner Penélope Cruz).

All these women go on a lethal breakneck mission to retrieve the top-secret weapon. They must accomplish this mission while also being a step ahead of a mysterious woman, Lin Mi Sheng (‘The Empress of China’ and the Lost in Beijing star Bingbing Fan). Sheng is tracking their every move as the action rockets around the world. This quartet of women are on a journey that could either be protecting the world–or get them killed in the film ‘The 355’ coming to theaters on January 7!

 

See For Me – January 7

A group of thieves breaks into the luxurious, secluded mansion. Sophie (Skyler Davenport), a visually impaired former skier, is house-sitting the mansion. In the difficult situation, her only defense is an app called ‘See For Me’ (which is also the title of the film) that connects her to Kelly, an army veteran living across the country, to help her fight back.

Kelly (Jessica Parker Kennedy) is a volunteer across the country who spends her days playing first-person shooter games and helps her survive by seeing on her behalf. In the film, Sophie, a blind teenage girl who ends up being not so powerless after all, is forced to learn that if she’s going to survive the night, she’ll need all the help she can get.

 

Brazen – January 13

Mystery writer Grace Miller’s sister is killed in the upcoming Netflix film ‘Brazen’. Her sister’s double life as a webcam performer is also revealed. The writer who has killer instincts when it comes to motive will need every bit of expertise to help solve her sister’s murder when she ignores the warnings of a cool-headed detective and gets involved in the case. ‘Brazen’ comes to Netflix on January 13!

Radhe Shyam – January 14

Directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, this film is a period of romantic drama set in Europe during the 1970s that stars Prabhas as Vikramaditya and Pooja Hegde as Prerana. This multi-lingual film has been shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi languages.

 

Scream – January 14

In this 2022 horror/thriller, Calif., a new killer dons the Ghostface mask. This happens after twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro in this Neve Campbell, You star Jenna Ortega, Courteney Cox, Don’t Breathe and ‘13 Reasons Why’ star Dylan Minnette, David Arquette starrer. The killer begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past in the latest addition to the Scream film franchise which comes to theaters on January 14.

 

The Royal Treatment – January 20

Netflix’s ‘The Royal Treatment’ sees the Aladdin star, Mena Massoud, as Prince Thomas and Laura Marano as Isabella, a New York hairdresser. In this film, Isabella or Izzy seizes the chance to work at the wedding of a charming prince. The King’s Daughter – January 21

In the film ‘The King’s Daughter’, Louis XIV (played by Pierce Brosnan) is known as The Sun King. He is the most powerful, influential monarch on the planet who is obsessed with his own mortality and the future of France. ‘The Sun King’ turns to his spiritual advisor – Père La Chaise (‘Children of a Lesser God’ star William Hurt), as well as the royal physician to help him obtain the key to immortality.

Louis believes that a mermaid (X-Men: Days of Future Past’s Fan Bingbing) contains a force that grants everlasting life. Therefore, he commissions a young sea captain to search the seas and capture the mystical creature and further complicating his plans is his orphaned daughter.

Marie-Josèphe (played by the Skins and ‘The Maze Runner’ star Kaya Scodelario) is the King’s orphaned daughter. She returns to court with an abundance of elegance. Marie-Josèphe is inherent defiance of authority and with a rare solar eclipse approaching, the King will discover where his daughter’s true loyalties lie. Louis races against time to extract the mermaid’s life-giving force in this film releasing on January 21.

 

The Tiger Rising – January 21

Starring Katharine McPhee, Dennis Quaid, Queen Latifah, Madalen Mills, Christian Convery, ‘The Tiger Rising’ follows the 12-year-old Rob Horton (Christian Convery) who discovers a caged tiger in the woods near his home.

Rob’s imagination runs wild as his life begins to change in the most unexpected ways in this beloved tale based on the New York Times best-selling book ‘The Tiger Rising’ by Kate DiCamillo. Rob has help from a wise but mysterious maid and the stubborn new girl at school. With it, he navigates through childhood memories, heartache, and wondrous adventures in this film coming to theaters on January 21.

 

Redeeming Love – January 21

Based upon the novel by Francine Rivers of the same name, the movie follows a powerful and timeless love story. It is set against the backdrop of the California Gold Rush of 1850 and enters on Angel (Abigail Cowen known for playing Dorcas Night in ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’). She was sold into prostitution as a child and has survived through hatred and self-loathing in this film which also stars The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev.

All this until she meets Michael Hosea (Tom Lewis). Angel discovers there is no brokenness that love can’t heal when she meets him as the story reflects the redemptive power of unconditional and sacrificial love. ‘Redeeming Love’ sees characters and circumstances relevant to the contemporary world.

 

Munich – The Edge of War – January 21

Based on the international bestseller Munich; by Robert Harris, this movie is set in 1938. Europe stands on the brink of war and Adolf Hitler is preparing to invade Czechoslovakia. Neville Chamberlain’s government desperately seeks a peaceful solution and with the pressure building, Hugh Legat (played by George MacKay), a British civil servant, and Paul von Hartmann (Jannis Niewöhner), a German diplomat, travel to Munich for the emergency Conference.

As negotiations begin in ‘Munich – The Edge of War’, the two old friends and former classmates find themselves at the center of a web of political subterfuge. This also includes a very real danger and with the whole world watching, can war be averted? If so, at what cost? Find out in this Netflix thriller launching on January 24!

Home Team – January 28

Netflix’s ‘Home Team’ sees NFL head coach Sean Payton (Kevin James) go back to his hometown two years after he is suspended. Sean finds himself reconnecting with his 12-year-old son by coaching his Pop Warner football team in this film which also stars The Twilight Saga’s Taylor Lautner and Rob Schneider. ‘Home Team’ is coming to Netflix on January 28!

Attack – January 28

‘Attack’ is an upcoming Indian Hindi language film. The science fiction action thriller film stars John Abraham alongside Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh. Directed and co-written by Lakshya Raj Anand, the film will be out in cinemas on January 28! ‘Attack’ has been produced by Jayantilal Gada, John Abraham, and Ajay Kapoor.
