15 Shows Like Netflix’s The Silent Sea

You just can’t get enough of some shows, can you? Some get canceled while others take quite some time to return with their next season. In 1963 the American government begins a covert mission in ‘Ascension’. It is sending hundreds of people on a century-long journey aboard the starship ‘Ascension’ with a goal to populate a new world. Nearly fifty years into the trip, a young woman is murdered. This happens as Ascension approaches a point at which turning back is not possible, the point of no return.

The murder prompts some to question the project and this crime is investigated by 1st Officer Oren Gault. Gault is born to maintenance workers on the spacecraft. Emily Vanderhaus is the victim’s sister. Other travelers aboard the ‘Ascension’ include Capt. William Denninger and wife Viondra in this show which has one season.

Battlestar Galactica

Dark Matter

‘Dark Matter’ follows crew members working on a derelict spaceship. They awake from stasis with no memory of who they are or how they got onto the vessel and the only clues to their identities are weaponry and a destination. The group’s destination being a remote mining colony soon to become a war zone.

In this series, the group must band together to fight off the threats they face. Their voyage is filled with vengeance, betrayal and secrets. All these things that make survival a question mark for all on board the ship and in the wake of a betrayal like that, the crew is split up. Some in the series are imprisoned. On the other hand, the others are sent away to start a new life in this sci-fi series based on the graphic novel of the same name.

Firefly

‘Firefly’ is set five hundred years in the future. It is a world after a universal civil war wherein the crew of a small transport spaceship takes any job so long as it puts food on the table.

Starring Deadpool’s Morena Baccarin, Stargate Atlantis’ Jewel Staite, Adam Baldwin, Encanto’s Alan Tudyk, Castle’s Nathan Fillion, Suit’s Gina Torres, Summer Glau, Sean Maher, the disparate men and women just want to survive and maybe have better lives.

However, the group constantly faces challenges on the new frontier. This includes the Reavers. They are flesh-eating mongrels who live on the fringes of the universe. Things also get a bit more complicated for them after they take on a passenger. This passenger is wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime.
