TF Daily Drop: Descending By Breaka

Today’s pick is Descending By Breaka. Listen to it now!

“Descending” by Breaka is a mix of all tracks. A unique blend of halftime, footwork, and everything in between, Descending is an ethnic vocal-laden dancefloor borer. With the spooky breakdown laced with piano melodies and granular sounds, the track builds up the tension effectively right before the drop.

Breaka has come a long way since he made his debut in 2018. His output on Holding Hands and other labels led him to launch his own eponymous label, where he also did remixes for Interplanetary Criminal and Kelly Lee Owens. The self-released LP, ‘We Move’, shows off his musical curiosity. DJs like Anz, Call Super, and Om Unit have already given him attention, while he has been featured on NTS, Rinse FM, and the BBC, as well as appearing on Elkka’s BBC essential mix of the year.

“We Move” explores themes of reflection and isolation, and melds genres such as UK funky, trance, kuduro, and samba. Whatever one’s perspective is, “We Move” is a clear statement of intent, demonstrating Breaka’s passion for explorations across the electronic axis. There’s no doubt this is a club album!

Start your day on a high tempo with this one.
