TF Daily Feed: Playboy to Build a New Mansion in the Metaverse

Add to the list of venues and parties you can be in the metaverse, the Playboy Mansion will soon have its presence in the virtual world!

The playboy mansion has been around since its construction in the 1920s. It was purchased by founder and chief editor of Playboy magazine late Hugh Hefner in the 1970s and is about to get a digital renovation.

Already established in the NFT stage, the Playboy Mansion will soon be built on the metaverse. The company established its entry into the digital world by showcasing the NFT collections of its iconic bunny avatars of Rabbitars. In a 2021 interview with financial media platform Benzinga’s YouTube show Power Hour, Playboy CEO Ben Kohn,  mentioned: “We are transforming the company into a web 3.0 company moving forward”. He goes on to say that there will be many opportunities for talent that will be in real life and the metaverse.

Since the passing of chief editor and founder of a playboy, Hugh Hefner in 2017 and the controversial series ‘Secrets of Playboy’, the brand has looked to re-establish itself in the metaverse. In an open letter, The PLBY Group Leadership Team stated, “the Hefner family is no longer associated with Playboy, and today’s Playboy is not Hugh Hefner’s Playboy.”

In 2021, Playboy magazine had launched CENTERFOLD a – new home for the creators to interact directly with fans. Artist Cardi B announced her first project with the brand on this platform. Playboy also hosted multiple of its NFT launch parties on the metaverse platform Decentraland.
