A murder goes unsolved, superheroes compete for the title of ‘King of Superheroes’, a school field trip goes awfully wrong, and K-dramas have a slew of new releases. For the month of April, Netflix has a deluge of new content available. The streaming platform is already jam-packed with high drama, coming-of-age stories, house makeovers, new seasons of highly anticipated shows, and a range of documentaries in its first week.
The following is a list of Netflix releases that will be available in the first weeks of April 2022!
Trivia Quest – April 1
Netflix’s mobile gaming services were initially introduced to its members in late 2021. A wide range of strategy, roleplaying, and arcade games are currently available. Launching on 1 April will be ‘Trivia Quest’. Users will be introduced to Netflix’s first daily, interactive trivia series, similar to the interactive film ‘Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.’
Players will be tasked with assisting ‘Willy’ in rescuing the animated people of Trivia Land who have been imprisoned by ‘Rocky’. Each episode will have a variety of questions ranging from science, history to entertainment, sports, art, and geography. Correct answers will earn the player ‘knowledge keys,’ which may be used to release Willy’s buddies.
Etermax’s Trivia Crack, a trivia-based entertainment franchise, is the inspiration for the interactive series.

Tomorrow – April 1
This April, Netflix will premiere another South Korean television series, ‘Tomorrow.’ The fantasy drama series will feature a young man, hired by a group of grim reapers. He is employed by them to carry out missions after becoming half-spirit and half-human by accident. The Grim Reaper presented is a more humanized version that saves lives, rather than the usual hooded figures wielding a scythe and invoking death.
Kim Tae Yoon directed the series. It is an adaptation of the South Korean animated show and manga series of the same name by author Llama. ‘Tomorrow’ stars Kim Hee Sun (‘Alice’), Lee Soo-hyuk (‘The King’s Affection’), Yoon Ji On (‘You Are My Spring’) and actor and vocalist of the K-pop boy band SF9, Rowoon.

Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood – April 1
In the 1960s, NASA recruits a young ten-year-old Stanley for a highly confidential mission. NASA has created a lunar spacecraft that is smaller in size than it needs to be, and hence they need Stanley to test it on the moon. Imagery, callbacks, products and the lifestyle of that era will be depicted throughout the film.
Filmmaker Richard Linklater wrote and directed the fantasy adventure film. It is loosely based on his own childhood imaginative experiences. Parts of the film were filmed in live-action and animated in post-production. Jack Black is the voice behind the narration, and the movie also casts Zachary Levi (‘Shazam!’), Glen Powell (‘Hidden Figures’) in voice roles.

Battle: Freestyle – April 1
A sequel to the 2018 film, ‘Battle‘ follows Amalie and partner Mikael’s ambition to become megastars in the competitive world of street dance. Her crew now qualifies for the ‘Break the Cypher’ dance battle competition held in Paris. Amalie gets distracted from her dancing routines and her relationship with Mikael while in Paris, as she sets out to find her estranged mother.
Lisa Teige reprises her role from the 2018 film as ‘Amalie’, Fabian Svegaard Tapia also returns as Mikael. Bao Andre Nguyen, Morad Aziman, Georgia May Anta form the remaining cast members. The film is directed by Ingvild Søderlind and written by Martina Cecelia. It is based on the works of writer Maja Lunde.

Captain Nova – April 1
Captain Nova is sent from the future to save the world from impending environmental catastrophe. Due to the earth’s current existing conditions and drilling in the north pole, a climate crisis is looming. Because of her time travel, she has de-aged into her 12-year-old self and is not taken seriously.
Kika van de Vijver and Anniek Pheifer play Captain Nova at 12 years and 37 years, respectively. Director and screenwriter Maurice Trouwborst direct the Dutch sci-fi disaster film.

Get Organized with The Home (Season 2) – April 1
Professional organizers and owners of ‘The Home Edit’, Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, return with another season of their reality TV show. Reese Witherspoon, Neil Patrick Harris, and Rhetta were among the celebrities whose houses were dramatically transformed in season one.
The duo organizes every space in the house, from bedrooms to kitchens to closets and pantries, with the help of their crew. Every project receives its trademark stylized aesthetic and rigorous attention to detail. Season two will feature celebrities Drew Barrymore, Chris Pratt, Katherine Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart amongst others.

The Bubble – April 1
Set in England, the cast and crew of ‘Cliff Beasts 6’ are locked down in their hotel shoot location. Inside this pandemic bubble, they are to follow strict rules and guidelines in order to conduct the filming safely. This gets difficult, and the crew attempts to flee. Being one of two films in production, the studio is reliant on the film’s success to keep running.
Judd Apatow wrote and directed ‘The Bubble’. It stars Karen Gillian (‘Oculus’), Maria Valcheva Bakalova (‘Borat Subsequent Movie film‘) David Duchovny (‘X Files’), Keegan-Michael Key (‘Key & Peele’), Leslie Mann (‘Blockers’), Kate McKinnon (‘Ghostbusters‘), Pedro Pascal (‘Narcos‘), Peter Serafinowicz (‘Sing’), Iris Apatow and comedians Guz Khan, Vir Das, and Fred Armisen.
Karen Gillian kept trolling fans revealing the project as ‘Cliff Beasts 6′ on her official Instagram. This indulged fans in trying to figure out the storylines of the first five films. She did later reveal via Instagram saying “OK OK…time to come clean. Cliff Beasts 6 was an (early) April Fools Day prank. HOWEVER…we did make a real movie called THE BUBBLE”. She went on to speak about the movie saying, “The Bubble is a movie about some actors trying to make a movie (and failing) during the pandemic”.
Peter Serafinowicz and Karen Gillian also appeared in director James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). Their Marvel Cinematic Universe co-star Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays ‘Dr. Stephen Strange’, is also mentioned in the trailer.

The Last Bus – April 1
A field trip to the Monkhouse Dynamic Warehouse goes awry for the school students. At this futuristic exhibition, Dalton Monkhouse, the founder, displays genie orbs, a solution for cleaning the environment. Unknown to the students and teachers, these drone-like orbs vaporize the students causing massive chaos. A few students manage to flee on the school bus, only to discover that the incident has occurred in multiple locations. They need to track down Dalton Monkhouse in order to figure out what happened.
The ten-episode sci-fi series cast includes Robert Sheehan (‘Umbrella Academy’), Tom Basden (‘After Life’), Nathanael Saleh (‘Mary Poppins Returns’), along with actors Lara McDonnell, Amber-Rose Perry, Laura Crowhurst, and Cameron Ashplant. Paul Neafcy created and wrote the series, and Steve Hughes, Drew Casson, Lawrence Gough, and Nour Wazzi serve as its directors.

Welcome To Eden – April 1
On a secluded island, Zoa and four other active social media personalities are invited to the most exclusive party. The party is being held in recognition of the debut of a new beverage. Billed as ‘the trip of your life’, the drink is set to make one’s problems go away. What begins as an enjoyable trip quickly turns into a life-or-death situation for the people involved.
Joaquín Górriz and Guillermo López developed and wrote this Spanish drama sci-fi series. Amaia Salamanca, Begoña Vargas, Berta Vázquez, Belinda Peregrín, Amaia Aberasturi, Lola Rodríguez are part of the cast list.

Green Mothers’ Club (April 6)
Another South Korean drama coming to Netflix is ‘Green Mothers’ Club’. The series will follow five women who become friends after meeting at their children’s elementary school. The five mothers rapidly become acquainted and support each other as they navigate motherhood. They build a true friendship by being by one other’s side and offering guidance through all of life’s difficulties.
Jang Hye-jin (‘Parasite’), Lee Yo-won (‘Different Dreams’), Choo Ja-hyun (‘Arthdal Chronicles’), Kim Gyu-ri (Designated Survivor: 60 Days), and Joo Min-Kyung are cast in the series.

Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story – April 6
Some of the most eye-opening and controversial documentaries can be viewed on Netflix. Adding to this is the story of Jimmy Savile. He was a well popular figure in England who rose to fame as a DJ, radio and television host. For his charitable efforts and philanthropy, he was knighted and named an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
He was accused of sexually abusing over four hundred young women and children during his lifetime. All came to light after his death. The documentary investigates Jimmy’s corruption and how he managed to deceive an entire nation for many decades.

The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On – April 6
From the makers of ‘Love is Blind’ comes another social experiment – ‘The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On’. Six couples have a choice to make – get married or move on. In each of the contesting couples, one spouse is ready to marry, but the other is undecided. Each partner will spend quality time with another person over a span of eight weeks with the aim of finding clarity on the future of their existing relationships.
The reality series is hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey.

Return to Space (April 7)
‘Return to Space’ will follow Elon Musk, the CEO and Chief Engineer of SpaceX, and NASA as they collaborate to bring NASA astronauts back to the International Space Station. It will detail the first use of a commercially made spacecraft to launch astronauts to the International Space Station. In May 2020, astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley boarded the SpaceX Crew Dragon spaceship.
This documentary film is created by Oscar-winning filmmakers Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Vasarhelyi. Their works include documentary films Free Solo’ (2018), ‘The Rescue’ (2021), and ‘Meru’ (2015).

Senzo: Murder of a Soccer Star – April 7
The five-part docuseries will narrate soccer player Senzo Meyiwa’s life and investigation into his murder. It will reveal details about what happened on the night he was gunned down. The docuseries explores if multiple people were involved or a hired hitman and if there was a cover-up.
Sara Blecher directed the docuseries, which Thandi Davids, Neil Brandt, and Tendeka Matatu executive produced.
Senzo Meyiwa was a South African soccer player who, in 2014, was shot and killed during a robbery. He represented his country at the National level and played as a goalkeeper for Orlando Pirates Football Club in the African Premier Soccer League. He was twenty-seven at the time of his demise. The number one shirt was retired in his honor by the football club.

Dirty Lines – April 8
‘Dirty Lines’ is set in an evolving Amsterdam city in the 1980s. With drugs being available openly and a shift in culture gaining momentum, brothers Frank and Ramon Stigter start ‘Teledutch’ – a phone sex business. Having their beginnings in a garage basement, they quickly become a huge hit. Success, parties, drugs, and a lifestyle are all hindrances for them in the long term. As mentioned in the trailer, “We at Teledutch offer a service to help men with their sex drive”.
Actors Joy Delima, Minne Koole, Chris Peters, Charlie Chan Dagelet, Abbey Hoes, Julia Akkermans, Joes Brauers, André Dongelmans and Laura Bakker are all part of the cast. Pieter Bart Korthuis is the creative mind behind the Dutch Drama series.

Elite: Season 5 – April 8
‘Elite’ follows Samuel, Nadia, and Christian, who are offered scholarships to Las Encinas, a private school in Spain, after their school collapses. Because they obtained scholarships from the building company that is responsible for the school’s collapse, the three are initially looked down upon by the wealthy students. In a clash of diverse lifestyles, experiences, habits, and murders, their lives interweave. Season five will pick up from the events of Armando’s murder.
The Spanish thriller drama is created by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona. Actors Itzan Escamilla, Omar Ayuso, Georgina Amorós, Claudia Salas are casted in season five of the series.

Green Eggs and Ham: Season 2 – April 8
Sam and Guy, closest friends, will journey around the world and outside their comfort zones in Green Eggs and Ham: The Second Serving. They’ll soon find themselves trapped in the middle of a delicious dispute. Season two will include ten half-hour episodes of hand-drawn 2D animation.
‘Green Eggs and Ham‘ is an animated comedy adventure series partly based on the same-named Dr. Seuss novel from 1960. The voice cast includes Michael Douglas, Adam Devine, Ilana Glazer, and Patricia Clarkson. Keegan-Michael Key serves as the narrator. Ellen DeGeneres, Sam Register, Mike Karz, David Dobkin, and Jeff Kleeman are executive producers of the show, which was created by Jared Stern.

Metal Lords – April 9
With ‘Metal Lords’, expect quick guitar riffs, rhythmic bass lines, and powerful percussions. A musical comedy film about youngsters who are obsessed with heavy metal music. The plot follows drummer Kevin and cellist Emily as they abandon their marching band identities in favor of a heavier melody. Kevin’s best friend Hunter joins them on guitar. They enter the battle of the band’s competition together and aim to win it.
The cast includes Jaeden Martell (‘It’), Isis Hainsworth (‘Wanderlust’) and a newcomer Adrian Greensmith. Joe Manganiello, Brett Gelman, Sufe Bradshaw are included in the supporting cast. ‘Metal Lords’ is written and produced by D.B Weiss (‘Game Of Thrones’). Peter Sollett serves as its director. Guitarist Tom Morello serves as executive producer in the film.

Tiger & Bunny: Season 2 – April 8
In ‘Tiger & Bunny’, superpowered individuals known as NEXT wander an alternate version of New York City as superheroes for hire. NEXT is the acronym for Noted Entities with eXtraordinary Talents. The series will chronicle the heroic adventures of Kotetsu T. ‘Wild Tiger’ Kaburagi and rookie hero Barnaby ‘Bunny’ Brooks Jr. as they are compelled to work together by their employers. Despite the fact that they have the same superpowers, they have opposing viewpoints on what it means to be a superhero.
‘Tiger & Bunny’ on Netflix is a Japanese anime television series produced by Bandai Namco Pictures Studios. Its voice cast includes Gō Inoue, Taiten Kusunoki, Masakazu Morita, Hiroaki Hirata, Minako Kotobuki, Mariya Ise, Kenjiro Tsuda and Nobuhiko Okamoto. Masafumi Nishida is the writer of superhero anime. Its first season was released over a decade ago in 2011.

Yaksha: Ruthless Operations – April 8
Two men on the same side of the law complete their tasks utilizing different techniques. ‘Kang-In’ is the leader of a top-secret NIS operative unit, he achieves its goals by whatever means necessary. ‘Ji-Hoon’ works for the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office as a prosecutor. Regardless of the circumstances, he adheres to the law. During a review, the two are pitted against each other.
The spy action-thriller South Korean movie is directed by Na Hyeon. It casts Sol Kyung-gu (‘The Merciless’), Park Hae-soo (‘Squid Game’), singer-songwriter Yang Dong-Geun, and Lee El (‘Black’). This will be actress Lee El’s second feature on Netflix this April.

My Liberation Notes: Season 1 – April 9
The story of three siblings and a stranger is depicted in ‘My Liberation Notes’. The monotony of everyday adulthood life has worn them down. Finding satisfaction and independence from their dull life is a difficult task for them. When mysterious alcoholic moves into their community, their aspirations of adventure take a positive turn.
Actor and singer Lee Min-ki (‘Shoot Me in the Heart’), Kim Ji-won (‘Descendants of the Sun’), Son Seok-Koo (‘Designated Survivor: 60 Days’), and Lee El (‘The Call’) play the leading roles in the series. Kim Seok-Yoon directed the Korean TV drama, which is written by Park Hae-young.
