With the upcoming release of the series ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’ starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, a science fiction story about a human male-looking alien who lands on Earth, we have put together a list of science fiction, action-thriller, and comedy films that you can watch until the release.
The science-fiction series is based on late writer Walter Tevi’s novel ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’, which was released in 1963. Two films based on the novel were produced, one in 1976 starring David Bowie and the other in 1987 starring Lewis Smith.
Keeping with Ejiofor’s human appearance in the trailer, our list features the extraterrestrial life forms that have adopted a more humanized look to blend on earth. Under The Skin
Beginning our list with ‘Under the Skin’, a sci-fi film that chronicles the story of aliens impersonating humans, studying their everyday behavior, understanding the reasoning behind their day-to-day activities, and also abducting them. It follows an alien being on her mission to abduct human beings while slowly understanding human life. She exhibits human behavior while putting on make-up, interacting with people, driving, and seducing men to abduct them into a black void.
Based on the book of the same name by Michel Faber, the film dwells on mankind’s greed, selfish nature, ideas of life, and stereotypical views on beauty.
The film stars Scarlett Johansson (‘Marriage Story’) in the lead role. It is written and directed by Jonathan Glazer and is based on Michel Faber’s science fiction novel of the same name. As shared in a behind-the-scenes segment on A42, the shooting of the film took place with Scarlett Johansson in character interacting with people, going about their day on the streets and in malls using hidden cameras.
Race to Witch Mountain
A special defense force is dispatched to investigate a crash site to capture aliens and utilize them in experiments. The human-looking sibling duo of an Alien race, Seth and Sara, track down their ship now at a secret location in Witch Mountain. Sara is capable of telepathy and telekinesis, and Seth can shift his molecular density, allowing him to move through objects. While on the run from authorities, they enlist the help of a cab driver and an astrophysicist who joins them to recover their spaceship
‘Race to Witch Mountain’ stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (‘Pain & Gain’), AnnaSophia Robb (‘Down a Dark Hall’), Alexander Ludwig (‘Vikings’), Carla Gugino (‘Gerald’s Game’) Ciarán Hinds (‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’), Tom Everett Scott (‘La La Land’). It is directed by filmmaker Andy Fickman.
The film is based on the late author Alexander Key’s novel ‘Escape to Witch Mountain’. In the Witch Mountain Franchise, there have been earlier films that include ‘Escape to Witch Mountain’ (1975), its sequels Return from Witch Mountain’ (1978), and ‘Beyond Witch Mountain’ (1982), and a remake of the original titled ‘Escape to Witch Mountain’ (1995).
This is Andy Fickman’s second movie with Dwayne Johnson, the previous being ‘The Game Plan’ (2007). Carla Gugino and Dwayne Johnson have also shared the screen in movies like ‘Faster’ (2010), and ‘San Andreas’ (2015).

Set in the future, tiny parasitic aliens known as Souls wander the galaxies, injecting themselves into the lifeforms that inhabit them and eventually taking over the planet. Except for a few people, Earth has been nearly taken over by souls. Melanie is captured by these aliens and A parasitic alien soul is injected into her body. She is set out on a mission to find the other humans.
‘The Host’ is an adaption of the sci-fi romance novel of the same name by writer Stephenie Meyer (‘Twilight Series’). New Zealand’s Andrew Niccol is the film’s director. The cast list includes Diane Kruger (‘Unknown’), Saoirse Ronan (‘Lady Bird’), Max Irons (‘Terminal’), Jake Abel (‘Love & Mercy’), Bokeem Woodbine (‘Spenser Confidential’), and Frances Fisher (‘The Lincoln Lawyer’).

I Am Number Four
Nine members of an extraterrestrial race have spread throughout the globe after fleeing their home planet Lorien for their lives. They have taken refuge and are now living like humans, but they are still being hunted down by a race known as Mogadorians. Both alien cultures have heightened talents and superpowers, but the Lorien has a human-like appearance. For the sake of their race’s existence, they must band together against the Mogadorians.
Michael Bay serves as the film’s producer and filmmaker D. J. Caruso directs the sci-fi action film. It is adapted from the science fiction novel ‘I Am Number Four’ in the ‘Lorien Legacies’ series books by James Frey. Have you ever imagined what might happen if ‘Superman’ became a villain? In this horror adaptation of the son of krypton’s origin story, produced by James Gunn, the Breyer family finds a baby who has crash-landed on earth. When the baby, Brandon, grows up and begins to demonstrate superhuman abilities, things go horribly wrong. He terrorizes the entire town with his superpowers.
‘Brightburn’ is written by James Gunn and his cousin Mark Gunn. They also serve as executive producers with David Yarovesky as its director. Its cast includes Elizabeth Banks (‘Invincible‘), David Denman (‘Mare of Easttown.‘), and actors Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones, and Meredith Hagner.

Cowboys and Aliens
‘Cowboys and Aliens’ is a take on an alien invasion set in the old west. It sees an outlaw, Jake, waking up in the desert with a mysterious bracelet on his arm. With no recollection of any memory, he is pursued by the law and a mysterious lady Ella. When he is apprehended, aliens descend on the town in their space crafts and take the villagers hostage.
The sci-fi action western film is based on the graphic novel ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. The Brother From Another Planet
As he flees his captors, an alien life form crashes on Earth seeking refuge. Known as the brother, he is mute, and his appearance is that of a black man with three toes and a removable eye. On Earth, he spends his time attempting to adjust to life on the Harlem streets by getting a job and imbibing a new culture.
Using an alien life form as the main protagonist, the film is a comedic take on several serious subjects, like drug addiction, poverty, and racial tensions. The comedy flick is directed by director John Sayles. It stars Joe Morton (‘Justice League’) as the main protagonist.

The Space Between Us
Though not an alien species, the character Gardner Elliot is born on Mars, alien to earth, as revealed in the teaser. A mission to colonize Mars is launched by the Genesis space shuttle. Sarah Elliot, one of the astronauts, is subsequently revealed to be pregnant, and she will have to deliver her baby on Mars. She does not survive the birth of her child, Elliot, who is raised on the red planet. Sixteen years later, he is on a mission to return to earth, knowing well his body can’t withstand earth’s conditions.
This romantic sci-fi film has a cast list that includes Gary Oldman (‘Darkest Hour‘), Asa Butterfield (‘The Boy in the Striped Pajamas’), Britt Robertson (‘A Dog’s Purpose‘), Carla Gugino (‘Sucker Punch’), Janet Montgomery (‘New Amsterdam’), and BD Wong (‘Jurassic Park’).
