The UK record label Defected, which was founded 23 years ago, has announced a lineup of all-star talent for its debut event in Malta this October.
Musicians from across the electronic scene are landing on the island on October 7. They are set to head to the Mediterranean for a weekend-long Defected Malta festival for the very first time this October spanning three days until October 9. A phenomenal line-up to go alongside this year’s inaugural event with headliners including Kerri Chandler, David Morales, Todd Edwards, Norman Jay MBE, Natasha Diggs, and Kitty Amor.
Taking place next to the Mediterranean Sea, Defected Malta is hosted against the backdrop of white sandy beaches and crystalline waters.
“Malta has always been on our radar. It’s a beautiful place, we went over for a site visit last year and were shown around all the unique locations and venues and it blew us away,” says Defected’s Director of Events, George Pritchard.
“We knew straight away we couldn’t not do a festival there. I think it’s a great offering as an extension to our Defected Croatia festival which sells out year on year, it gives other people a chance to come to an alike experience in a different territory.”

The latest lineup of the festival reveals pulls together the scene’s long-time pioneers of the scene! It includes rising stars like NYC’s Anna Collecta, Afro House act Kususa, Parisian selector Young Pulse and Maltese DJ Edd. They will be alongside Defected’s favorites like Sam Divine, Melé, Simon Dunmore, Low Steppa, and Melvo Baptiste.
More acts have been announced this year to accompany the headliners. They include Basement Jaxx, Heidi, Fat Tony, Gorgon City, and Archie Hamilton.
“The line-up is different with exciting new talent like Kerri Chandler who we’ve not booked for years and we are excited to see what the Maltese energy brings us,” says Pritchard.
An impressive blend of talent is coming from all around the globe at the festival set to the backdrop of the island’s Northern region in St Paul’s Bay.
The idyllic location of Defected’s latest festival offering is a perfect setting for the label’s unique brand of a house party with venues across the weekend, including St. Paul’s Bay’s luxe beach club Café del Mar and Uno, the island’s largest multi-room venue. It provides the ultimate club experience with its impressive sound system. The indoor club and open-air rooms are set to host party goers until the early hours.

Defected promises a host of exclusive pop-up parties at unique off-the-grid locations. They offer unrivaled views of the island. They are also on the schedule for Defected Malta, alongside a number of intimate boat parties that will complete the weekend’s activity.
“Continuing to make clubbing abroad accessible for all generations of dance fans, Defected Malta O will follow our much-loved Croatia festival, which made its triumphant return to Tisno’s Garden resort in August 2021. Taking Defected to new heights this year, we look forward to hosting our global Defected family of discerning house heads to bask in the island’s beauty,” Defected wrote on their website.
The label promises to bring multiple stages to the island over the weekend. They will orchestrate a melange of day and night parties from both long-running label favorites and new, up-and-coming artists. It’ll feature stages from spin-off imprints Glitterbox, Classic Music Company, Sondela, and 4 To The Floor.
Defected Malta takes place for the first time on October 7 – 9.
