Z2 Comics’ co-founder Sridhar Reddy has co-authored the book along with Alison, the cover art of which is crafted by Minomiyabi and Ariela Kristantina. Minomiyabi, Alex Heywood, Kelsey Ramsay, BRÄO, and Taylan Kurtulus worked on the novel’s interior art. The conception of ‘Loner’ “felt like a rebirth” to the artist. Pioneer Announce Game-changing Update For DJs

Industry leaders of the DJing world Pioneer have announced a game-changing update in their ‘Rekordbox’ software. This update makes the lives of DJs easier than ever.

Pioneer is a Japanese company that is now run by Noritsu Corp. It has been the industry gold standard for all things DJing for over two decades ‘Rekordbox’ is a software where a DJ adds the music they wish to play in clubs or at festivals and the track is then analyzed as per the genre. Its speed with the end result being the waveform of the track is then played around by DJs to make their sets creative.

All the software versions from 1 to 5 directed the DJ to analyze the track manually. This would then give out information like waveform, BPM (Beats Per Minute of the track), beatgrids (series of markers that point to the location of beats within the track). However, with Rekordbox 6, which came with cloud support, has gone a step further! It has added the ability to analyze tracks from its cloud.

Due to this update, the track which had to be fine-tuned manually will look into its existing analyzed track data from all rekordbox users and once that is done, it will populate the version on your local or cloud storage with all the necessary details. These include waveform, bpm, beatgrids and even vocal positions making a huge move towards Pioneer’s long-term vision of ‘crowd sourced’ metadata for DJs.

Kanye West Sued for Allegedly Sampling Chicago House Legend Marshall Jefferson’s Music Without Permission

Kanye West has been hit with a lawsuit. It is for the alleged copyright infringement of a sample used in the track ‘Flowers’ on his ‘Donda 2’ album.

The legal action was filed in New York on June 29. It was filed by Ultra International Music Publishing, citing its client – Chicago House music pioneer Marshall Jefferson – who, as the lawsuit states, is “often referred to as the Father of House Music”.

According to the 11-page lawsuit – West’s song ‘Flowers’ features a sample of Jefferson’s “Instantly recognizable” track, ‘Move Your Body’.

The lawsuit claims that the Marshall Jefferson sample used in West’s ‘Flowers’ was “unauthorized.” It was “repeated at least 22 times throughout” in West’s own song.

A comment was provided to MBW wherein Jefferson explained how he feels about the alleged infringement of his work. He stated: “I’ve been sampled thousands of times. For that reason I’ve never and will never sample another artist, because I know the feelings involved.”

Added Jefferson: “Getting done by another artist, a BLACK artist, a fellow Chicagoan without acknowledgment is disappointing.”
