The European and American summer is at its peak and so are the sizzling Spotify and YouTube playlists for those sunny rooftop parties and beach sessions.
For over two decades, drum & bass and the summers have gone hand in hand. Liquid DnB has metamorphosed into a big room sound that has produced some of the biggest tunes the genre has witnessed. It’s July 2022 and it also marks the peak of European and American summers. Keeping that in mind, we have listed some summertime drum & bass tunes that need press play on during your parties this sunny season.
MISUN – ELI ELI (MADUK REMIX)
To start this list off, we have the unmissable remix of Misun Wojcik’s ‘Eli Eli’ by Dutch producer, Maduk. Sun-soaked melodies, profound vocals and powerful drums; this track will never go wrong regardless of the setting that it’s played in.
A SIDES – ARCTIC (FT. MC FATS)
This track is simply designed for those sunny beach vibes. The legendary combination of A Sides’ magical textures and MC Fats’ exquisite vocal delivery made this track one of the best tunes of 2020. ‘Arctic’ was first heard in SUNANDBASS Festival’s 2019 aftermovie and it was released just in time in 2020 when we all needed something to cheer about.
CULTURE SHOCK – DISCOTHÈQUE
If you are looking to take your summer drum & bass parties to the next level, this banger from Culture Shock is what you need. The British superstar has mastered the art of delivering festival-sized numbers but he has a peerless ability to switch things and bring his elegant style of music to the fore; and this track is the prime example of it.
JAHEIM – PUT THAT WOMAN FIRST (CALIBRE VOCAL REMIX)
Calibre is the undisputed king of liquid drum & bass and this remix is one of the numerous hits he boasts in his celebrated catalog. Rolling drums, perfectly measured synths and atmospherics under American R&B singer Jaheim’s alluring voice; it will get a stone-hearted person swinging.
NETSKY – EVERYBODY LOVES THE SUNSHINE
The track’s sample dates back to Roy Ayers 1976 album but after all these years, the feeling remains universal. Who doesn’t love a cold beer in the hot summers with some music that compliments the holiday feeling; and Netsky with his surreal drum & bass pulse has produced a tune to get your summer parties started.
RANDOM MOVEMENT – WATERLOGGED
One of the finest exports from stateside drum & bass, Random Movement simply knows how to captivate the listener with his warm style of productions that tickle the innermost emotions of your heart. Breathtaking cinematics, vibrant drums and danceable melodies, ‘Waterlogged’ in the pool while you are vibing to this tune, is just how you will feel when you listen to it.
SUB FOCUS & RUDIMENTAL FT. MAVERICK SABRE – TROUBLE
Reggae and summers is a glorious combination, and when you fuse these with drum & bass, there’s quite nothing like it. There have been many seminal hits in the reggae DnB space but when one of the masters of dancefloor drum & bass takes up the job, it has to be monumental. Sub Focus with his signature drums along with Rudimental’s ska adventures and Maverick Sabre’s vocals, this is a tune for days.
TOKYO PROSE – BRILLIANT CORNERS
New Zealand has given drum & bass some huge names and Tokyo Prose is right on top of that list. In our opinion, he is the clone of Calibre’s drum & bass who found his way down under. The choirs in this tune come straight from the heart and that’s what you need to feel all bubbly this summer. The prodigal son of liquid DnB is how fans like to describe him because he delivers every time he steps foot in his studio.
WILKINSON – HERE FOR YOU FT. BECKY HILL
Ever since Wilkinson made his debut as drum & bass producer, he has only known the art of producing anthemic tunes. The man behind ‘Afterglow’ which reached unbelievable heights in the dance music charts released ‘Here For You’ as part of his latest album ‘Cognition’; a body of work that has zero fillers but this is the song that embodies a multitude of emotions. Play this song when you plan to propose to your special someone this summer.
LONDON ELEKTRICITY – JUST ONE SECOND (FEAT. ELSA ESMERALDA) [APEX REMIX]
If you are a drum & bass head, you will probably know how important Apex was to the scene and it’s just tragic we lost one of the finest DnB talents so soon. The man had given so much to this music and one of his biggest tunes was his remix for London Elektricity’s ‘Just One Second’. A tune that will make you fly with joy and emotion. Pure vibes from start to finish.
TECHNIMATIC – NIGHT VISION
Technimatic are one of the masters of liquid drum & bass and they leave nothing behind when they release music. ‘Night Vision like the tunes in this list is designed for the summers. The vocals cuts ups, the trumpets; the euphoria around this tune will make you want to start your ride and leave on a holiday.
SIGMA – NOBODY TO LOVE
Sigma’s love-hate relationship with the drum & bass folklore will possibly never see its end but nobody can take anything from this summer anthem they released 8 years ago which still enchants clubs and festivals. One YouTube comment on this track right says “To our future generations…..please don’t let this masterpiece die”.
