Before being known as [1991](https://open.spotify.com/artist/2IP71LH7CbwddhsEXBI0fy?si=uDUeOKyKRPyMf5tVo5UtKw), Freddie Webb formerly released music as Koncept for half a decade before changing his stage name in 2016. Koncept’s style and the musical richness in his music was evident, but the inception on 1991 gave his music the madness to the method he was looking for. Six years later, 1991 stands as one of the biggest acts in drum & bass. The London-based producer made his debut as 1991 with a crushing and gushing two tracker on MTA Records where he was handpicked by the label’s head honchos Chase & Status themselves. Soon after his first release, came two EPs in the same year that served as the ideal prelude for him to showcase the storm he was brewing up in his studio. Along with his love for cinematics and emotional drum & bass, tracks like ‘The People’, ‘Kabuki’, ‘Dun Kno’, ‘Kings & Queens’ proved that he can add groove and rhythm to the deepest and darkest of bass realms. Some of his high-profile collaborations include tunes with Sub Focus & Netsky, while dishing out official remixes for Axwell, Basement Jaxx, Chase & Status, Mylo vs Claptone, Chris Lake & My Nu Leng; all this while also being the first UK artist to feature on RL Grime’s imprint Sable Valley. One of his biggest hits was his contribution to UKF’s ten year celebration album on which he has amassed over 20 million streams on [‘Full Send’](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udIdb9ZeCSQ). Since the release of ‘Odyssey’ in the autumn of 2021, 1991 had teased that there is an album in the works. Finally after nearly a year, we have the full release which is out now on all platforms. The 12-track album features a wide selection of collaborations from the producer with names like NOISY, Cherryade, Tom Cane and Empara Mi. The most important takeaway from the album is the exhibition of numerous, styles, genres and tempos that he has carefully weaved throughout the album. Tracks like ‘Reloaded’ and ‘Life’, ‘Who Hurt You’, take inspiration from the UK Underground. While the rest of the tracks like the title song, ‘Nothing Left To Lose’, ‘Thinking About You’ and ‘Feels’ bring his love for dancefloor drum & bass to fore, and culminate his debut album into an intense body of work. ‘Odyssey’ is a career-defining record that will propel 1991 towards the upper echelons as one of the biggest names in British electronic music.
