Established in 2021, In The Lab Recordings focuses on the experimental side of drum & bass. The label marked its first release in January 2021, and since then, they have racked up over a dozen releases from talents like Corrupted Mind, Samath, Vici, and Aaron Payne, to name a few. Now, to mark their 20th release, In The Lab Recordings have released their first various artists compilation called ‘Matter:1’. Encapsulating the label’s ethos of the futuristic and tech-y style of drum & bass, the compilation features artists from 3 different continents. Comprising of 5 tracks, the ‘Matter:1’ compilation features some of the most imperative parts of the label’s growing reputation of delivering fresh and forward thinking drum & bass. The compilation begins with Canadian and British producers [Aaron Payne](https://soundcloud.com/aaronpayne_dnb) and [Ezro’s](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4fVvvfJCziWnnlLsjKxBMP?si=M1SPfMH7TICjPUPWWMkL3Q) moody and gritty work over [Stuart Rowe’s](https://open.spotify.com/artist/2qwGUda21fiqR1wm69HWN6?si=vtNxuiz4SpaZKQ87_sf7nw)zealous vocals on ‘Can’t Escape’. Then comes [Elder’s](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4N6P2CQOex1D0hJ3ZXhs5j?si=6cEb-3PISMyUP0r20FeJfQ) snappy and techier offering, a funky take of dreamy cinematics on ‘Incitement’. German producer, [Cuepric](https://open.spotify.com/artist/04jQu8XTKEXSawiUDJtMPO?si=ccUKMVBEQam6BXunz0-AJA)assumes remix duties on the compilation with a deep and dark rework of SCARFIE’s 2020 tune, ‘Moment Now’. Dutch producer [TER3NCE](https://open.spotify.com/artist/6HCTmzB0CRSBt9YMIgpe57?si=i2jGIVAiQCianT_RNTCz8Q) shows no remorse and delivers a dancefloor hungry number called ‘Monster’, which resonates with the tune’s piercing design.
