Subtropics Festival is a three-day drum and bass, reggae, jungle, UK garage, original dubstep, and hip hop Australian music festival. It will take place this weekend between September 23 and 25 at Base Backpackers Magnetic Island, Queensland in Australia. Tickets for this event are powered by Ticket Fairy.
A variety of artists will be playing at the holiday festival, along with international headliners. Subtropics Festival 2022 will be powered by the sound systems – Inner West Reggae Disco Machine and Housewifes Choice Machine. Base Backpackers Magnetic Island will provide cabins, clean showers, bathrooms, toilets, kitchen, bar, and camping on-site.

Serial Killaz, the UK’s award-winning jungle drum and bass producers, and an award-winning duo consisting of Tobie Scopes AKA Tera, and Graham Warnock AKA Vital Elements will play at the Subtropics Festival 2022 in Magnetic Island. They rolled out their latest single ‘Nothing Hurts Like Love’ in July this year, along with a Jungle Mix of the song. The duo also founded a drum and bass label ‘Serial Killaz’ in 2009.

Australian DJ Kid Kenobi, whose single ‘Rock The Funky Beats’ came out in May, is also on the line-up for the festival. The award-winning DJ commented about his upcoming performance at Subtropics Festival, saying, “I’m super pumped to be heading up to beautiful Magnetic Island!” “Not only because it’s such a great spot, but the festival itself will be pushing quality underground dance music. Win win!” added the ARIA nominated DJ.
Vienna-based Akov from the DnB scene, whose latest release is a four-track EP ‘Behemoth’ came earlier this month; drum and bass producer and DJ from Austria, SCREAMARTS, who has had releases on labels like Dispatch Recordings and Eatbrain; and Melbourne-based DJ & producer Tamen, among others, are set to take the Subtropics Festival stage in Australia this weekend.

When asked about his set at Subtropics, Tamen said: “I will be playing forthcoming material from myself & Pugilist on the Rupture and DEXT labels as well as a wide range of classic and forthcoming jungle and DnB 150-170 bpm. Most likely, forthcoming and classic cuts from artists like Coco Bryce, Dj Sofa, Tim Reaper & Dwarde, Digital, Spirit, Kemet Records, Djinn, Earl Grey, Fixate, Western Lore, Rumbleton, Basic Rhythm, Blood Trust, Calibre, Dj Die, Fracture, L Major, Sully, Nia Archives, Fracture, Forest Drive West.”
Also on the bill are Gillitine, A13, DJ Reload, Daddy Longlegs, Filthy Philp, DJ and music producer INGUERZON, DJ Journeyman, DnB/Jungle DJ, and producer Kim Dela Haye, drum and bass/Jungle DJ SAMp3, producer and DJ Static Structures, Thierry D, Tomix – Jungle/DnB producer and DJ from Brisbane, and Tidy & Samwise, among others.
There will be two HUGE sound systems at Subtropics, with three stages covering music. The three days of partying on Magnetic Island will include pool parties, boat parties, and clubbing. With an open-air main stage, a bar stage, and a closing night after the party, you are bound to have a fabulous time! You can enjoy live art demonstrations, live performances by dancers, watersports, big BBQ cookouts, and much more!
