PlayStation Exclusive Games To Play Before The New Year

After months of waiting, you finally get your hands on the new PlayStation 5. You’re now drowning in a sea of titles, not too sure what to start with. Don’t worry though, we have narrowed down the list and picked five exclusive PlayStation games you should try.

If you don’t have a PlayStation, just know there are way too many games you’ve missed out on! Xbox has always been able to quickly optimize their console-only games for PC, but on the other hand, PlayStation only has a few titles that make their way to PC.

Below you will find our picks for exclusive PlayStation games you should try:

Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo 7 is a racing simulator developed by Polyphony Digital and released on March 22, 2022, by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Aside from being a racing simulator, players can do much more than just complete races. You can progress through campaign mode, become a car collector, customize your vehicle, and even design your own livery.

Gran Turismo has always aimed to make the driving aspect of the game as realistic as possible by including damage, tire pressure, fuel consumption, and many other features. In the game, you can buy 420 cars at Brand Central, or purchase a used car from the Used Car Dealership, which allows players to buy cheaper second-hand vehicles as well as cars manufactured before 2001. Each vehicle in the game has its own handling and can be tested on any of the 90 track routes in dynamic weather conditions, as well as on classic GT courses.

The Last Of Us Series

Naughty Dog’s Last of Us has been one of the best video games we’ve played in the past decade, and it’ll be the same for you! Split between two parts, the story takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States, where players take control of Joel, a smuggler who has been tasked with escorting a fourteen-year-old girl, Ellie, across the US border. The world is infected with a disease that turns humans into zombie-like creatures called the ‘infected,’ with various types stalking every corner; namely ‘Runners,’ ‘Stalkers,’ ‘Clickers,’ and much more.

You will also be quick to notice that a remake for The Last of Us Part 1 was recently released on September 2, 2022, for Microsoft Windows and the new PlayStation 5. The remake focuses on improved graphics and gameplay, but as with all Last of Us games, the story is driven by its highly engaging plot and setting, realistic dialogue, and setting, all contributing to the franchise’s massive mainstream success.

Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is an action role-playing game developed by Guerrilla Games that takes place six months after the events of Horizon Zero Dawn. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Western United States, after an extinction-level event that was caused by highly advanced robots.

Players control Aloy, is a hunter from the Nora tribe, who leads a group of people on a quest to the frontier, also known as the Forbidden West, to locate a plague that’s been festering and killing everything it touches. You’ll find yourself exploring many unknown lands, new regions that were destroyed during the extinction event, new tribes, and learning new crafting items. The game is currently only available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but rumor has it that it is already being optimized for Microsoft Windows.

Ghost Of Tsushima: Directors Cut

Ghost of Tsushima is a 2020 action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch. It follows the story of Jin Sakai, a samurai on a quest to protect his Tsushima Island from the Mongol invaders of Japan. Developers have taken inspiration from the real-life historical event that records the Mongol army’s initial invasion of Japan, by seizing smaller islands first. However, many of the story arcs are fictional and written only for entertainment purposes.

There aren’t many samurai games that are mechanically satisfying or have a story as compelling as Ghost of Tsushima, so you should definitely play this one; if not for the story then for the impressive graphics and visuals that every samurai game needs.
