New Zealand artist Lawrence Arabia is set to tour across New Zealand from Friday, December 9, 2022 onwards. After the cancellation of his ‘Chant Darling’ shows earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his forthcoming ‘Lawrence Arabia Tours the Developed World,’ presented by Banished Music, will have him perform in Auckland, Raglan, Christchurch, Napier, and Wellington. The tickets for this tour in New Zealand are brought to you by Ticket Fairy.
The tour kicks off on Friday (December 9) at Point Chevalier RSA in Auckland. Lawrence Arabia will then head to Raglan for his show at The Yard on Saturday (December 10), Loons in Lyttelton on Thursday (December 15), and the [CANCELLED] Paisley Stage in Napier on Friday (December 16), before concluding the tour at San Fran in Wellington on Saturday (December 17).
Announcing the tour on September 13, Lawrence Arabia, pseudonym of James Milne, wrote on Instagram: “This is happening. I have a new song coming out soon and my tremendous band and I are going to tour some of Aotearoa to celebrate it, focusing on the bits we had to miss at the beginning of the year due to Covid. Thanks to @banishedfromtheuniverse for bringing this into reality and @anns_taylor_design for the cool art,” he added.
Prior to the tour, Lawrence Arabia will release his first single in three years, titled ‘The Developed World.’ The song is “about the cognitive dissonance of living amid relative privilege in a world that seems to be going to hell.”

New Zealand-born singer/songwriter Milne was part of the indie-pop group The Brunette, and toured with them in the US. After returning to his native country, he recruited local musicians Benjamin Luke Eldridge, an old friend Ryan McPhun, and Jolyon Mulholland to form the Reduction Agents. His self-titled debut album ‘Lawrence Arabia’, a thirteen-track record, came out in May 2006.
Lawrence’s sophomore album ‘Chant Darling’ was released in 2009. He and his co-writer Luke Buda were honored with the APRA Silver Scroll Award for the song ‘Apple Pie Bed’ from this album. The track has surpassed 15 million streams on Spotify as of 2022. His nine-track album ‘The Sparrow’ won a New Zealand Music Award (Tui) for Best Male Solo Album, and his following record ‘The Absolute Truth’ was named the Best Alternative Album at the 2016 New Zealand Music Awards.
Fans will be excited to know that they can listen to songs from Lawrence Arabia’s massive catalog on the forthcoming tour. Get ready to listen to brand-new Lawrence Arabia tracks as well!
