Missy Elliott Receives Honorary Doctorate From Norfolk State University

Missy Elliott got her second honorary doctorate this week from her home state’s Norfolk State University. The Virginia-native rapper received the institution’s prestigious ‘Presidential Commencement Medallion’ as well as an honorary doctorate in humane letters for her “outstanding professional achievements and extraordinary contributions to public service.”

“I am proud of y’all, and y’all should be proud of yourself. I want you to look at each other and say, ‘You already won.’ Let ’em know! Ain’t no winning, you already the one,” said Missy in her commencement speech to around 400 graduates of class ’22. 

Additionally, Missy donated USD 20,000 to aid “the area of greatest needs” for the university. In 2019, Berklee College of Music bestowed Missy’s first honorary degree alongside Justin Timberlake and conductor Alex Lacamoire. 

Jonas Brothers Announce New Las Vegas Residency Shows for 2023

‘Jonas Brothers: Live in Las Vegas’ returns for a three-night residency in February next year. The trio will perform on Feb. 17, 18, and 19 at the Dolby Live at Park MGM. 

“We couldn’t be more excited to start sharing everything we’re planning for 2023 and 3 more shows in Vegas is the perfect way to kick things off. We’re back at Dolby Live at Park MGM this February!! Grab your tickets and we will see you there!” reads a tweet shared by the Jonas Brothers announcing the residency.

Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas played a string of shows in June 2022 as part of their Las Vegas residency and returned again in November with three more shows. The upcoming set of performances will mark their third scheduled appearance at the Dolby Live at Park MGM stage.

Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss dies aged 40 of Suicide

DJ and dancer/choreographer Stephen “tWitch” Boss, known popularly for his participation in the dance competition show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and longtime DJ and executive producer of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ unfortunately passed away at the age of 40. 

The news was shared in a statement by Boss’ wife, as per CNN. “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans,” read the statement. 

According to the LA County Medical Examiner, Boss died of suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot. 

Janet Jackson Announces ‘Together Again’ 2023 Tour Dates with Ludacris 

Pop icon Janet Jackson is set to go on tour in 2023, after four years! The ‘Together Again’ Tour will see Janet stop by arenas and amphitheaters in over 30 cities across North America. She will be joined by special guest Ludacris at all the stops. 

“You guys have no idea, I’ve missed you so much, so much, and I can’t wait to be with you. I’m so excited,” said Janet in a video announcing the tour. The much-awaited string of gigs will kick off on April 14 in Hollywood, Florida, and then have her visit Orlando, Atlanta, Nashville, New York, Toronto, Dallas, Los Angeles, Portland, and more. It will conclude on June 21 in Seattle, Washington.

Måneskin Reveals Tracklist for Upcoming Album, RUSH!

The tracklist for Måneskin’s third full-length album titled ‘Rush!’ is out now! The Italian rock band shared the list on their social media, which features previous singles ‘Supermodel,’ ‘The Loneliest’ and ‘MAMMAMIA.’ They also shared a brand new all-Italian single, ‘LA FINE,’ alongside the announcement. Prior to the full album release on January 20, 2023, Måneskin confirmed a forthcoming collaborative single with Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine on ‘Gossip.’

SZA Shares North America Tour Dates for 2023

Days after the release of her anticipated sophomore album ‘S.O.S.,’ SZA announced her first-ever arena tour, starting in February 2023. She will be joined by Omar Apollo for the tour across North America. 

The 2023 S.O.S North American Tour is slated to begin in Columbus, OH, on February 21 and culminate in Los Angeles on March 22, 2023. “Time to take this shit on the road,” SZA shared on Instagram, revealing the tour dates.
