The Recording Academy will honor Nirvana, The Supremes, Slick Rick, and more, with Lifetime Achievement Grammys at this year’s Special Merit Awards ceremony. Nile Rodgers, Bobby McFerrin, Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson of Hearts, and Ma Rainey are among the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award honorees. The Special Merit Awards ceremony will be held on February 4 – the day before the 2023 Grammy awards’ main ceremony (February 5).
“This Special Merit Award is presented by vote of the #RecordingAcademy’s National Trustees to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance,” the Recording Academy wrote on Instagram while announcing this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award Honorees.
Rita Ora to Release New Single This Month
Rita Ora is set to release her new single ‘You Only Love Me’ this month. The British singer-songwriter is yet to reveal the release date and other details but she took to social media to announce that it would be out this month. “SURPRISE. I’M BACK!

Fans can also expect a new album from the singer. The ‘Poison’ singer’s last album ‘Phoenix,’ a sixteen-track record featuring the tracks ‘Girls’ (feat. Charli XCX, Cardi B, Bebe Rexha), ‘Your Song.’ and ‘Let You Love Me’ came out in November 2018. She has rolled out collaborations and singles including ‘Follow Me (Club Mix)’ with Dutch DJ/producer Sam Feldt, ‘Barricades (with Rita Ora)’ by Belgian drum and bass producer and musician Netsky, and ‘Finish Line’ in 2022.

His 2019 smash hit ‘Blinding Lights’ is now the most-streamed song on Spotify. “New Year, New Records ? @theweeknd’s “Blinding Lights” is now the most-streamed song in Spotify history,” Spotify shared on Instagram. The track has surpassed 3.339 billion streams on the digital music streaming service.
‘Blinding Lights’ was the #1 song on Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks and stayed on the chart for 90 weeks! The Weeknd, stage name of Abel Tesfaye, recently released a song titled ‘Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)’ for the soundtrack of the latest blockbuster ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’.

2023 is going to be a very busy year for Meek Mill. The Philadelphia-born and raised rapper revealed that he will be rolling out a new album every quarter of 2023. “This year a album every quarter!!!!!!” the rapper wrote on Twitter.

Sam Smith Announces Dates for North America Tour
Sam Smith will be hitting the road this year in support of their forthcoming album ‘Gloria.’ They have announced twenty-seven dates for ‘GLORIA the tour’ on social media, which will take the ‘Unholy’ singer to cities including Los Angeles, Toronto, Washington, and Montreal in North America. ‘GLORIA the tour’ will run from July to September, with the first show set to take place in Miami on July 25.

FLO Becomes the “First Girl Group” to Take BBC Sound of 2023 and Brit Rising Star Award Home
Ever since their debut single ‘Cardboard Box’ released last year went viral on social media, the British girl group FLO has been receiving a lot of love and praise from people everywhere.
In a tweet shared on Twitter, FLO wrote: “Guys we’re the first girl group to ever win both the BBC Sound Of 2023 and Brit Rising Star award”. They won the BRITs Rising Star Award for 2023 last month and the BBC Sound of 2023 this week.
