Part of The Chikara Project’s smartly planned releases comes from their various artists albums, a ritual since the label’s inception. For its 2023 edition of the V/A albums, The Chikara Project has released Connections Vol. 2. This 14-track compilation brings together some label favorites along with fresh talents that dive deep into the intense furrows of what Chikara stands for. ‘Connections Vol. 2’ serves as a follow-up to its first edition in 2018. The compilation begins with label bosses Mystic State combining with Rowl on ‘Alocasia’ for an ambient number. Next comes Congi with a deep and haunting dubstep offering called ‘If I Let You Know.’ Third Degree and Marenn Sukie bring the grit and the organics on tunes like ‘Void’ and ‘Indigenous’ before Melbourne-based producer & DJ brings his fluttery style of music on ‘Semantics.’ Proove delivers some seriously delicious harmonies on ‘Covered In Tides’ followed by Captivate, who switches things up on the compilation with a surreal mix of atmospherics and breaks with ‘No More.’ Therma takes us on a journey into the lower end of drum & bass on ‘Catalyst’ which is complimented immaculately by Drytek and Natty D on their dark and steppy ‘The Paradox Of Discipline.’ Lurch wastes no time in showing his love for the deep and groovy on ‘Hooked,’ followed by Myth with ‘Cruel Intentions’ for a track that combines old school elements with tech-infused drums. Deviant and Brainwork exemplify Chikara’s sound on ‘Always’ and Felt Your Touch’ before Mystic State close another delightful from their label with ‘My Only, Pt.
