‘Insomnia’ by Faithless Returns to Beatport Top 100

‘Insomnia,’ first released in 1995 by Faithless, has returned to the Trance Top 100 Tracks on Beatport. The track stood at number 1 at the time of writing. This comes following the death of the iconic frontman Maxi Jazz. The British singer-songwriter and DJ drew his last breath on December 23, 2022, at age 65.

“We are heartbroken to say Maxi Jazz died peacefully in his sleep last night. He was a man who changed our lives in so many ways. He gave proper meaning and a message to our music,” the British electronic band shared in a heart-wrenching post on Instagram.

“He was also a lovely human being with time for everyone and a wisdom that was both profound and accessible. It was an honour and, of course, a true pleasure to work with him,” the caption on the post read. “He was a brilliant lyricist, DJ, Buddhist, a magnificent stage presence, car lover, endless talker, beautiful person, moral compass and genius. Rest in peace dearest Max.”

Faithless also remixed the theme song of Netflix’s hit series ‘The Crown’ in November 2022.
