Below you will find a spoiler-free review of the newest adventure the Straw Hat Pirates have embarked on, along with a few tips and tricks to help you defeat various monsters and enemies.
The One Piece Odyssey Story
The story of One Piece Odyssey begins with the Straw Hat’s ship, The Thousand Sunny, shipwrecked on an island called Waford, where they meet two residents, Lim and Adio. Both attack the pirates upon their arrival and steal their powers due to their understandable hatred and distrust towards pirates.
In classic One Piece fashion, we’re slowly introduced to the real problem on Waford Island. The Straw Hats embark on a journey to defeat a handful of element Colossi, along with Lim and Adio, before the Element Colossi destroys the island by causing a massive storm. In a turn of events, Lim uses her special ability, allowing her to send people into worlds made out of their own memories, where we relive important moments and story arcs.
Below, you will find a list of the story arcs we revisit in One Piece Odyssey:
The Alabasta Arc

The Alabasta arc follows the fight between the Straw Hat Pirates and the Baroque Works, whose leader was Crocodile, a warlord of the sea. Under Crocodile’s control, the city of Alabasta and its people were suffering, which led to a civil war. The Straw Hat crew gets caught right in the middle of this war, coming out victorious and gaining worldwide recognition. The crew also meets Luffy’s brother Ace for the very first time.
The Water Seven Arc

The Straw Hats find themselves with a new crew member, Franky, a half-man, half-robot, as well as The Thousand Sunny’s shipwright. They also get involved in a world conspiracy that ties in with another crew member, Nico Robin.
The MarineFord Arc

Also known as the Summit War, this is one of the biggest and most impactful arcs in the whole One Piece universe. Taking place right in front of the Marine headquarters, Luffy and Emperor Whitebeard make an alliance to rescue Fire Fist Ace from the Marines.
The Dressrosa Arc

The Straw Hat Pirates have entered the New World and have challenged one of the Warlords of the Sea, Donquixote Doflamingo, after seeing the terror he has caused to the City of Dressrosa.
Gameplay
One Piece Odyssey is an action-adventure RPG that features open-world exploration while allowing players to switch between Luffy and other Straw Hat crew members to take on the various obstacles in front of them. You’ll be quick to notice every Straw Hat member has their own powers and abilities; for example, Tony Tony Chopper will be able to go through narrow routes due to his small size or Zoro can slash his way through.
The game features a turn-based battle format rather than ones similar to Elden Ring and other RPGs, but has comical elements that keep gamers quite entertained. Players will explore the entire island, embark on missions, explore caves and dungeons, solve puzzles, and participate in various other side missions to earn some money.
Don’t forget to explore Waford island, as there’s a lot to do, and choose to battle your opponents or retreat to level up and defeat your enemies.
