Back for a second edition, the island music festival takes flight at 1 PM on Saturday, January 28, at Claris Sports Club, Aotea/Great Barrier Island. New Zealand’s bass magician K+lab and rock/reggae/funk group Summer Thieves headline the marathon musical extravaganza! This year’s edition will also provide a wellness treat for festival goers, owing to yoga workshops by Aotea Yoga Collective. Brazuka will perform as a solo act as well as with his groovy South American/Kiwi-infused band Latinaotearoa. Joining the lineup are house DJ MagikJ, multi-genre sound producer Byte Size, duo Isaac Chambers & Dub Princess, surf rock reggae band Sojøurn, Wingman festival returnee DJ Sammy Senior, three-piece electronic band Floorplay, house and techno specialist Paul ‘DJ Phully’ Sweetman, and many other talented acts! The Wingman Festival was conceived in honor of late musician Kiwi Shane ‘Wingman’ Billingham, who tragically lost his life at Burning Man in 2019. One of the key aims of the Wingman Festival is also to generate funding for Aotea/Great Barrier schools.
