Montell2099, one of the most intriguing new electronic music acts to emerge from New Zealand in recent years, embarks on a five-city tour of the country. Over the course of 2022 and so far in 2023, Montell2099 has continued to provide cutting-edge visual experiences and concerts. The tour was initially announced all the way back in September 2022. Montell2099 shared the news to his fans on Instagram, saying, “Been working so hard behind the scenes to plan this sht and I’m hyped to show you guys haha <3 We’ve built a brand new show and I’ve got a bunch of new music to play from my upcoming project!!”
Christchurch was initially meant to serve as the first stop of the tour on November 25, 2022. It was later pushed to March 18, 2023, aligning with other shows in New Zealand slotted for that month. Rescheduled dates include Montell2099’s appearances at the University Of Otago Union in Dunedin (March 2) and The Factory in Hamilton (March 3), before winding up in Christchurch at the Ngaio Marsh Theatre. The concerts scheduled for Auckland and Wellington are expected to go on as planned.

Montell Pinny, stage name of Montell2099, took to Instagram stories to announce the postponement of his tour dates. He claimed, “I’ve decided to postpone some of the dates on the tour in order to give me more time to put this thing together, and have it exactly how I want it to ensure we have the time of our lives when we rave together. I’m so sorry.”
The Vortex Tour is assembled by New Zealand-based event promoters Audiology Touring, George FM, music promotions company Distorted Promotions, Coastal Promotions, media production firm Below Studios, and creative studio Human Person. Look out for “brand new lighting, video, and stage design” by Human Person (who has also worked with Billie Eilish, Drake, and Travis Scott), that will electrify the immersive experience at Montell2099’s forthcoming tour.
