Big Gay Out Returns for 2023 Edition With Theia, Brady Peeti and More on March 12

Big Gay Out is finally back for its 2023 edition! Billed as “the gayest festival in Aotearoa,” Big Gay Out 2023 will feature a star-studded line-up of queer musicians and DJs, and a Thirst Trap Ball for attendees to flaunt their talents on March 12, 2023! Originally scheduled to take place in February this year, Big Gay Out 2023 was postponed owing to the massive floods in New Zealand. Now, with mere days to spare, the queer event will house thousands of people at Auckland’s Coyle Park. The festivities will take place on three stages: Main Stage, NYMPHO World (DJ sets) and Vogue Ball (Thirst Trap 2023).

This year’s Big Gay Out will be headlined by Ōtautahi-born pop singer/songwriter Theia, an emerging name on the country’s list of pop artists. Actor/singer Brady Peeti, Drag King Hugo Grrrl, Ukrainian/NZ Alt-Pop VÏKÆ, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra , DJ ZEKI and MC Manila, and a handful of other artists will take over the Main Stage from 12:00 PM onwards. Dance-focused queer club night NYMPHO will showcase their artists MONOGA.MY, DIESEL, Eva Lucian, Miss Geena and Atrangi at the Nympho World Stage (DJ Sets) from 2:05 PM.

From 2 to 7 PM, House of Aitu will host yet another spectacular edition of Thirst Trap Ball. You can participate in five different categories at the ball and get a chance to win up to NZD 400 for serving your face, flaunting your body, or voguing down the runway!

Helmed by Burnett Foundation Aotearoa, the organization has been ‘community response to HIV in Aotearoa for nearly 40 years.’ Big Gay Out’s Lounge+ space, created in partnership with Toitu te Ao and Positive Women Inc., aims to spread awareness and open communication about HIV. The festival will also vehemently practices sustainability and have provided measures for attendees to follow, including getting reusable water bottles, using community buses supplied by the organizers or carpooling,  applying biodegradable glitter, and more!

Big Gay Out is free to attend for all. Charges will only be applicable for bus tickets from selected locations.
