Resslek Drops a 4-Track Belter on Yamatai Records

The Portuguese minimal groove merchant has unleashed his menacing best on a sweltering 4-track EP called ‘Scope’ on Yamatai Records.

Hailing from London, Yamatai Records is a drum & bass imprint championing the deeper and lower end of the genre. Established in 2021, Yamatai Records was born with a clear vision to provide a platform that heavily supports underground-focused drum & bass music.

Kickstarting their journey with British producer Kalane’s intense and flowy ‘Red Velvet’ EP, Yamatai is now building a loyal fanbase beyond the underground, thanks to their quality-over-quantity approach. Followed by Kalane, the label has also brought talents like Altered Concept, Subrix, Leks, Nuke, Change Of Pace, and many others to showcase their talent and music.

After a successful breakthrough year in 2022, Yamatai has begun 2023 in resounding fashion. Along with the second edition of their ‘Genesis’ series, the London-based imprint brought Pine and Wallhack for two belting EPs this year. Bringing yet another name for the first time to the Yamatai family, they now welcome Portuguese producer Resslek for the sweltering 4-track ‘Scope’ EP.

Known for his minimal and snappy textures, Resslek has been on a mission to cement his name as one of the go-to producers for deep, dark, and rolling drum & bass. The Scope EP showcases Resslek’s key attention to detail in production, while also maintaining a high level of groove and grit. The EP also features a collaboration with British artist Katon, which further pushes the boundaries of quality in this release.

The ‘Scope’ EP begins with ‘NYE,’ which kicks off with an eerie intro that is served with an equally gritty and punchy drop layered with rolling sonics. The title track is an exhibition of Resslek’s penchant for the minimal and polished over its snappy drums and intricate bass stabs, while ‘Bizon’ with Katon takes the rolling route with its subs and razor-sharp drum work. Closing the belting 4-tracker is ‘Splash,’ which is another measured and obscure affair that signifies Yamatai’s ethos of staying true to the underground.
