British Rapper SL’s New Zealand/Australia Tour Takes Him to Auckland

British rapper SL makes his maiden venture down under for a six-city tour of Australia and New Zealand in April 2023! The still twenty-one-year-old British hip-hop, grime, and drill artist will be hitting venues in Wellington, Auckland, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Brisbane. After a stop in Wellington, SL will perform at the 1,000-capacity live music space Studio The Venue in Auckland on Friday, April 14. Harlee Bashir Laguda Milne, known popularly as SL, is one of the UK’s most prolific and exhilarating artists. Since he was fifteen years old and coupled with the 2017 release of ‘Gentleman,’ SL has been causing a stir in the grime and hip-hop music scenes. His music has now received more than 500 million streams overall. SL embarks on a tour on the heels of his most recent single, ‘For One,’ which is a collaboration with UK drill artist Kwengface.

SL shields himself with a ski mask/balaclava from the attention a drill artist attracts due to the genre’s lyrical depiction of violence and crime. In an interview with The Guardian in 2020, on wearing a mask, SL said, “It keeps my personal life and my music life separate. Some people love being swarmed but that’s just not me”. Under his bygone alias Slimz, you can find his previously unmasked works online.

The forthcoming tour is steered by Australia’s Astral People, Handsometours, and New Zealand’s Hit Touring. Tickets dropped on sale in February 2023 after SL declared, “The wait is finally over.. 🇳🇿🇦🇺” on Instagram.
