Catch Naram, Empress Naima, and More at Dubscape 2023

Event promoters Sub-Depot, the stalwarts of reggae sound system events in New Zealand, will host a weekend of music, camping, dancing, and skanking this month! Commencing on April 14, Solscape, a striking coastal eco-conscious hotel in Raglan, will serve as the venue for the Dubscape showcase. Tickets for this three-day event are powered by The Ticket Fairy.

Dubscape is an inaugural outdoor reggae musical gala hosted by Sub-Depot, which will feature some of the most happening sound systems and musicians across Aotearoa. Musicians announced for the showcase include reggae selector Empress Naima; archivist, professional dancer & DJ Dujon Cullingford; DJ Jazz Cigarette; Producer Naram; MC Chatter Cat; Tuffy Culture and more!

The sounds and sensations of Dubscape will emanate from two sound systems crews – The Reggae Rodeo and Bigbada Boom Sound System. The Hine-raiona/Lion Maidens crew oversees Bigbada Boom Sound System; this community promotes female deejays and musicians in reggae music. MC Jinga Cat, DJ Sunray, Elasmo Dread, Shawshot and Lovelace Roots will perform as part of the Hine-raiona crew at Dubscape this year.

Dubscape will be housed at the eco-friendly Solscape – Hotel and Lodging on Wainui Road in Raglan. The property labels itself to be an “eco accommodation business,” and it hosts various live music events, workshops, and other gatherings.

Originally slated for February 2023, Dubscape was moved to the mid-autumn month of April due to the fierce tropical cyclone Gabrielle that ravaged the North Island of New Zealand. Tickets purchased are valid for the updated dates.
