Rock Band Dead Favours to Go On ‘Album Tour 2023’ in New Zealand From April 21

Auckland-based alternative rock outfit Dead Favours embark on a multi-city tour of New Zealand to mark the release of their EP ‘Riffing & Yelling Part 2.’ Beginning on April 21, the quartet will perform in Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland, and other cities while also pulling a number of heavy-hitting local bands on stage! Dead Favours are set to hit the road, covering seven cities across Aotearoa, with the first gig helming from The Loons Club in Lyttelton, Christchurch. They will take their musical exploits to venues in Dunedin, Wellington, Napier, Mt Maunganui, and Hamilton before wrapping up their tour in Auckland.

Formed in 2016, Dead Favours consists of frontman Jared Wrennall, drummer Charlie Smith, guitarist Kyle Wetton, and bassist Alex Elvis. The crew is famed for their singles ‘Dig,’ ‘Lost On You,’ and ‘High Flying,’ among others. Their latest work ‘Riffing & Yelling Part 2’ follows up on the 2016 album, ‘Riffing & Yelling,’ which garnered them ‘Best Rock Artist’ at the 2021 Aotearoa Music Awards.

Volts, a retro pop/hard rock group, and Dolphin Friendly, a collective known for their psychedelic hard rock music, will be on support for Dead Favours in Christchurch. Hard rock crew Bũda joins Voltz on the line-up in Dunedin on April 22, 2023. Rockers Ekko Park will be seen barraging stages in Wellington, Napier, Hamilton, and Auckland.

Indie rock band Voodoo Bloo, hard rock band FYVEYES, pop-rock outfit Coast Arcade, two-piece alternative rock band The Boondocks, trio Animal Head and progressive rock band Dead Empire will also be seen on support on different stops of the tour.

Moreover, Dead Favours revealed that Alex Elvis would perform twice on May 6 at Mount Maunganui’s live music venue Totara Street. The bassist will join forces with his other musical project, Skinny Hobos.

Drummer and founding member Charlie Smith stated, “We’ve been working on these songs for well over a year and they are on fire! This is our biggest headline tour to date and we promise we are bringing the house down!”

“I’m really excited to share these new songs with everyone. We’ve worked so hard and it feels like an evolution for us as songwriters. I can’t wait to play these songs around the country – we have a very special live show lined up!” added vocalist Jared Wrennall.
