Kesha Announces New Album, Shakira to Be Honored With Billboard’s ‘Latin Woman of the Year’ at the First-Ever Latin Women in Music, and More

From Doja Cat revealing that her new album is “basically finished” to Jack Harlow sharing his third studio album ‘Jackman,’ here’s last week in music

Kesha Announces New Album ‘Gag Order’

Kesha has announced her first album in over three years! Titled ‘Gaga Order,’ the forthcoming project, which is set to release on May 19, is the Grammy-nominated singer’s fifth studio album. Her previous album ‘High Road’ featuring collaborations with country music singer-songwriter Sturgill Simpson, Brian Wilson, and Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and musician Wrabel, and Big Freedia came out in 2020.

“I really dug into some of my uglier emotions and sides of myself that are less fun,” she said while speaking to Rolling Stone. “It’s scary being vulnerable. The fact that I have compiled an entire record of these emotions, of anger, of insecurity, of anxiety, of grief, of pain, of regret, all of that is so nerve-racking — but it’s also so healing.”

The singer also shared two new tracks ‘Fine Line’ and ‘Eat The Acid’ last week from her forthcoming record, which has been produced by Rick Rubin. “I wrote ‘TiK ToK,’ and ‘the party don’t start ’til I walk in,’ so I almost felt like I was becoming a caricature of this toxic positivity,” she told Rolling Stone. “We live in a culture where I feel like we always show our best side. But Rick Rubin created the most beautiful, safe space for me to really dive into these emotions.”

Selena Gomez Bags Her Third Emmy Nomination

Selena Gomez is now a three-time Emmy nominee! The ‘Calm Down’ singer earned a 2023 Daytime Emmy nod for her cooking show ‘Selena + Chef’ for outstanding culinary series. The HBO Max show competes against ‘Martha Cooks,’ ‘Roadfood: Discovering America One Dish at a Time,’ Family Dinner,’ and ‘José Andrés & Family in Spain.’ Her first Emmy nomination is for executive producing Hulu’s ‘Only Murders in the Building.’ She is also one of the leading actors on the Hulu show alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin.

Gomez’s latest collaboration ‘Calm Down’ with Nigerian singer-songwriter Rema is gaining more and more love each day. With over 664 million streams on Spotify, and reaching number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, ‘Calm Down’ is one of Selena’s most popular songs. The singer was also featured on Coldplay’s ‘Let Somebody Go,’ a track off the British band’s 2021 album ‘Music of the Spheres.’

Doja Cat Says Her New Album is “basically done”

Grammy-winning artist Doja Cat told Interview Magazine that she is currently working on her album. Speaking of her fourth studio album, she said, “I don’t have an album title, we’re working on that. It’s done. It’s basically done. I think I have just a few sessions here. I have two or three that I’m going to be going in and adding some stuff or taking things out. It really is basically finished. And so I’m really excited about that because it’s something very different than what I’ve been doing forever.”

Doja’s third studio album ‘Planet Her,’ featuring the tracks ‘You Right,’ ‘Kiss Me More,’ ‘Need to Know,’ and ‘Woman’ was rolled out in 2021. ‘Woman’ received three nominations at the 2023 Grammy Awards. She recently featured on SZA’s chart-topper ‘Kill Bill.’ The singer also gained a Grammy nomination for ‘Vegas,’ a song she recorded for Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 film ‘Elvis,’ a biopic about the life and work of Elvis Presley.

Shakira to Be Honored With Billboard’s ‘Latin Woman of the Year’ at the First-Ever Latin Women in Music

The first-ever Latin Women in Music celebrating “Latin female artists, executives and creatives who are proactively working for positive change, inclusion and gender parity in the music industry” will be held on May 6 at the Watsco Center in Miami. 2023 saw Shakira release a collaboration project titled ‘Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53’ with Bizarrap, peaking at number 9 on Billboard Hot 100. “Shakira is the ultimate Woman in Music. Thanks to her, Latin women all over the world have been empowered to write and perform deeply personal music,” the chief content officer for Latin/Español at Billboard Leila Cobo said. “She created a movement all on her own, and continues to be more relevant than ever today, with grace, a deep tradition of giving back, and enormous talent.
