Hiraeth Calls for Environment Protection With Debut Single ‘Save the Living’

Guwahati-based (Assam, India) contemporary/experimental jazz band Hiraeth calls for an immediate halt to deforestation practices with their debut track ‘Save The Living.’ Released in June 2023, the seven-minute, soulful, jazzy tune is packed with captivating lyrics that reiterate how vital it is to safeguard and nurture the environment.

In an era where the felling of trees, deforestation, and skyrocketing levels of concretization run rampant, six-piece crew Hiraeth release their debut single ‘Save The Living’ as a poignant reminder that preserving nature and our natural habitat should be our collective priority. Their track is sewed together with heartfelt lyrics, complemented by soulful, jazzy/bluesy vocal energy, slick guitar rhythms, and infectious keyboard and drum work. What starts off as a slow tune with subtle vocals and keys propels into an assertive melody jammed with a critical message.

The band also states, “This thought-provoking song is dedicated to the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Act of 2020, carrying the theme of #withdrawEIA2020,” referring to the controversial draft bill issued by the Indian Government on March 23, 2020.
