IMANU and Glitch Mob Send Us Into ‘Dream Sequence’

The genre-bending bass extraordinaires IMANU and Glitch Mob have collaborated for the first time on an ear-splitting number.

When Noisia, the modern-day pioneers of the drum & bass genre, root for you at the age of 16, you know you are incredibly special. Kick-starting his journey as Signal, his former drum & bass alias, Rotterdam-based Jonathan Kievit has presented his penchant for story-telling with twisted rhythms and powerful basslines.

Established in late 2019, the IMANU project follows an already impressive chapter in drum & bass into an intricate and strapping journey. The manner in which IMANU weaves his sonic and emotional thread through various styles, it’s incredibly difficult and unfair to pigeonhole him into a single genre. Just under a year ago, IMANU released his magnum opus, ‘UNFOLD,’ which twisted heads and made him one of the most exciting acts in electronic music as a whole.

Now in his early 20s, IMANU has already been responsible for releases on significant labels such as VISION, Heaven Sent, UKF and mau5trap, he’s remixed the likes of Apashe, TOKiMONSTA and What So Not and Skrillex, to name a few.

Collaborating with him on his latest single is an act that has done glitch hop music like never before. Destructing dancefloors across the world with their midtempo brand of cinematic and bass-heavy glitch music, The Glitch Mob are unknown to the idea of making music the way it should sound and the duo formed by edIT and Ooah (former members being Boreta and Kraddy) make you listen to music you’ve never heard before.

Making their full-length debut with 2010’s ‘Drink the Sea,’ the Glitch Mob reached number 13 on the Billboard 200 and further topped the Dance/Electronic Albums chart with 2014’s’ Love Death Immortality’ album. The duo’s success is also a testament to their continually mutating musical concepts, where they push the absolute limits of their creative flair.

Now as these two unstoppable bass forces come together for the first time to make music, the result is a bone-crushing number called ‘Dream Sequence,’ whose complexity can only be deciphered by the IMANU and The Glitch Mob. Featuring IMANU’s ability to create an irresistible atmosphere coupled with The Glitch Mob’s love for dynamic structure shifts, ‘Dream Sequence’ is a realm that you wouldn’t want to get out of.
