Kyrist’s Debut New Zealand Tour Takes Her to Wellington on August 25

Kyrist, one of drum & bass’s dark heavyweights from the UK, is reeled in by New Zealand’s revered triad of Ghost Media, Rhythm Output, and Full Time Senders for an unforgettable showcase on August 25, 2023. Beaming from Eva Pub in Wellington, the showdown kicks off from 10 PM onwards with Hound, Levi, Phrase and Rhythm Output Crew. Grab your tickets for the gig from The Ticket Fairy.

DJ and producer Kirsty Clarke, best known as Kyrist, is all set to debut in Aotearoa as part of her upcoming Summer Tour. After enchanting DnB heads in Poland, Croatia, Germany, Belgium, and Romania, Kyrist is penciled in for six shows in New Zealand. The musician concludes this tour with a performance at the first-ever DnB Allstars Festival 2023 at Gunnersbury Park in London.

Speaking of the tour, Kyrist shared a post on Instagram, saying, “Summer schedule is looking a little less hectic for me than this time last year, which is chillll and I’m just as excited to get out there and play at a bunch of places and events I’ve never been to.. including NEW ZEALAND in August for the first time woioiii! I’m so ready. Let’s fking gooooo.”

Kyrist’s first stop in New Zealand sees her take the stage in the nation’s capital, flanked by some of the finest hands on deck as well as the evening’s host, MC Young Ghost. The Rhythm Output crew is slated to warm up the crowds with opening duties, followed by sets from minimalist aficionado Hound, deep bass connoisseur Phrase, and producer Levi, known for her unique brand of jump-ups, fog horns, rollers, and bangers.

A staple of the DnB scene, Levi spoke to us ahead of the gig. She shared, “I am very excited to be playing support for the Wellington Kyrist show. She is someone I have looked up to since before I started mixing in 2016. It feels like a full circle moment getting to play support for her.” The drum & bass producer goes on to mention, “It’s also so wicked to see another female headliner touring NZ. It’s still not something we see here very often so we are making great steps and moves – even cooler that it is the darker side of dnb. It’s going to be such a great night all around and I am very excited to be a part of it!”

Lucas Hound, who has had a quiet year in terms of music releases, offered up a few hints about his upcoming set. He states, “I’m excited to showcase some fresh material I’ve been working on with a range of producers and labels as of late. I’ve been really enjoying switching things up across tempos and genres so expect some of that, just mad keen to get amongst it with the Welly crew once again, really.”

Hound also dished out words of praise for Kyrist, saying, “It’s super exciting to be on the bill for Kyrist’s Aotearoa debut. Whether on the decks or in the DAW, Kirsty’s an example of passion and power represented in the music and we’re stoked to have her finally roll through!”

Supporting act Phrase weighed in about his forthcoming set: “I’m super excited to be playing alongside Kyrist who has helped pave the way for underground drum and bass, especially for female underground artists. Excited to play my set out I have a lot of originals on my usb ready to be tested as well as upcoming releases that will be played to an audience for the first time. Expect liquid minimal and some 140 throughout my hour long set.”
