The single is laced with fast-paced percussive movement, flowing electric guitar segments, and a snappy chorus. Koen and Jemilah share vocal duties, and the song also offers up a sonically spellbinding guitar solo. Much like ‘[Bright](https://marmaladenz.bandcamp.com/album/bright),’ the bulk of ‘Awkward’ was recorded in rhythm guitarist Koen Aldershof’s home studio. The tune features a vocal arrangement from Jemilah and Koen that lyrically explores the diverse viewpoints of two individuals who find themselves in an awkward scenario. I feel like we’ve all been in situations before where you convince yourself that it’s going to work or even felt like it’s your fault that it isn’t when it really just comes down to incompatibility,” says Aldershof.
