Through Missy Elliott’s visionary presence as both a producer and an artist, reshaping the entirety of rap and R&B that followed her, she has had a generational impact on rap music. Starting with her debut album ‘Supa Dupa Fly’ in 1997, which went platinum and was nominated for a Grammy, Missy Elliott followed up with not one but three magnum opuses that won her several accolades. > [View this post on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/CzO0A03uB7r/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading) > > [A post shared by Missy Elliott (@missymisdemeanorelliott)](https://www.instagram.com/p/CzO0A03uB7r/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading) The honor was awarded to Missy Elliott after a speech from fellow female rapper Queen Latifah, who introduced her, saying, “You feel free? You want to try some wild shit? Thank Missy.” Queen Latifah also recalled the time when Missy Elliott made her breakthrough as an artist: “Trust me, nothing sounded the same after Missy Elliott came on the scene. All the kick snares, everything changed. The bass lines changed, the pockets changed, the cadence, the writing. And that’s because Missy has always been a futurist, someone who’s always looking ahead.” Speaking about the award, Missy Elliott said, “I’ve been through so many ups and downs and I know where my gifts come from. God has brought me all the way here. He has allowed me to meet some incredible people along the way.” She continued: “All of these people have impacted people around the world through their music. Sometimes I be like, do people really realize, like through music, what music do with people? That’s the one thing I think we can all say that comes together is music.” While being the first female artist to receive the honor, Missy Elliott also joins the handful of hip-hop artists to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, Eminem, Public Enemy, and Jay-Z being the previous recipients. This was the first time that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was streamed online, and some of the other high-profile inductees included Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, The Spinners, Kate Bush, and George Michael. **You May Also Like:** [Ariana Grande and Other Artists That Have Launched Perfumes](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2023/08/14/ariana-grande-and-other-artists-that-have-launched-perfumes) [5 Popular Concert Films You Can Watch](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2023/07/06/5-popular-concert-films-you-can-watch) [Must-Watch Music Documentaries of 2023 You Need to Know](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2023/07/05/must-watch-music-documentaries-of-2023-you-need-to-know) Share [X](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketfairy.com%2Fword%2F2023%2F11%2F08%2Fmissy-elliott-inducted-into-the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame.md&text=Missy+Elliott+Inducted+Into+The+Rock+%26+Roll+Hall+of+Fame) [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketfairy.com%2Fword%2F2023%2F11%2F08%2Fmissy-elliott-inducted-into-the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame.md) [WhatsApp](https://api.whatsapp.com/send?text=Missy+Elliott+Inducted+Into+The+Rock+%26+Roll+Hall+of+Fame+https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketfairy.com%2Fword%2F2023%2F11%2F08%2Fmissy-elliott-inducted-into-the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame.md) ## Sagar Deshmukh Drum & Bass head with a tinge of hip shake for Disco.
