One Love 2024 is poised to become one of its biggest editions yet, assembling over fifty international and local connoisseurs of music fanned across two days and two stages. Headliners at this dancehall and reggae haven include Jamaican rapper and singer Sean Paul, Jamaican-American singer and rapper Shaggy, British-Jamaican reggae musician Julian Marley, Fiji-based musician George Brooks Veikos aka FIJI, and British rapper Stefflon Don, to name a few.

Representing the Kiwi music scene, artists slotted on the card are reggae musician General Fiyah, RnB/neo-soul trio STNDRD, singer Jackson Owens, Maori reggae/pop outfit Origin Roots Aotearoa, seven-piece whanau crew Papas Pack, singer/rapper Chase Woods and more! UB40 (featuring Ali Campbell), Common Kings, Spawnbreezie, Oxlade, Pia Mia, Latasha Lee, Eli-Mac, Nesian Mystik, House of Shem, 1814, Three Houses Down, and Israel Starr, among others, round out the performer’s roster. Hosts Athena, Regan, Neps, Montel Tivoli, DJ KG, and DJ Quest are steering the entertainment.

Dipping into the artists on the line-up, Aucklanders Corrella march on to One Love as part of a streak of shows in Australia and New Zealand and on the back of their December release ‘Lady Divine,’ a sublime roots-reggae-funk single.

Mirage, consisting of musicians Ben Horlock, Jahvyn Douglas, and Benji Seiuli, is set to flail out an eclectic mix of reggae, electronic, and rock music at the festival. The trio heads onstage fresh off the release of their single ‘Kotahitanga’ (Uprising). “We are pumped to be playing at One Love for the first time this year,” the trio told us. “The festival is the home of reggae in Aotearoa, and we feel blessed to be playing in the same arena with the greatest reggae legends worldwide and locally, going to be just as mean for us to check out the other artists shows and meet these legends backstage.”

The band has also alerted attendees to come to check out their performance, saying, “We have a banging set ready, heaps of our Whanau and friends are coming along and were looking forward to a jumping crowd…it is gonna be fire!!”

Australian reggae group Bradamon, following the release of their newest single ‘Working,’ spice things up on day one at One Love. They charge onstage around 7 PM and gave us a peek into their set, saying, “Bradamon are representing the Australian reggae scene when we hit the One Love stage, something we are extremely humbled and excited by. Without spoiling the fun, our set will feature a few hidden surprises and we hope to shock the on-goers with our musicianship and vibe.”

We also got an opportunity to speak with singer/songwriter and reggae artist Rodney Te Tawhero aka Brutha Rodz, who went in-depth with us about his performance at One Love. He conveyed that he had a thirty-minute slot and would be dropping an original set and some old favorites. “I love playing at One Love, this will be my second time but first, as a solo artist so I get to tick that off the bucket list! I know there will be heaps of friends and whanau in attendance so I’m keen as to put on a good performance for everyone on the pinnacle of Reggae stages in Aotearoa!” says Brutha Rodz.

Singer/rapper Chase Woods also chimed in with us about the showcase, expressing, “I’m really excited to share the stage with talented artists from all around the world. I grew up listening to Sean Paul, Shaggy, UB40, etc, so it’s like a dream come true to be on the same lineup. To be on stage performing next to Tawaz, Jackson Owens, Mikey Dam and the band is special, they are like brothers to me.”
