Emotions Run High On Hasan.’s New Single, ‘Whatever’

Debutant Hasan. spawns a nostalgic indie-rock ballad from his forthcoming album.

Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Hasan., stage name of Hasan Baldiwala, carves his entry to India’s flourishing independent music realm with ‘Whatever.’ Amidst the tender requiem the track warrants, the minimal drum work and clever guitar pluck strike a perfect chord to uplift Hasan.’s storytelling of dabbling between the nostalgic past and the future. ‘Whatever’ cascades to lay out a stunning guitar solo by Warren Mendonsa of Blackstratblues, as the singer neatly wraps up the emotive number.

Whatever – Hasan.

“‘Whatever’ belongs to that feeling of closure that I sought from the past. A bittersweet, melancholic, yearning ballad that keeps nostalgia in one hand and the future in another. I wrote this song out of desperation to make a relationship work, it was a phase where I felt helpless and couldn’t stop myself from falling into the same unyielding cycles of attachments,” said the artist in a statement.

The newest track is a peek into Hasan.’s debut album, ‘Bygone,’ which is slated to roll out by the end of 2024. Taking note of his earlier influences of late 2000s pop, rock and hip-hop, he has transposed to experiment with indie folk, rock and alternative music for Hasan.’s blossoming odyssey as an independent musician.
