New Music Releases by Indian Artists in February 2024

Continuing to catch you up with some of the notable Indian music releases for each month, here is the lowdown for February 2024!

Shreya Sharma – ‘Soyi/Khoyi’

Conceived by indie stalwarts Shreya Sharma and Shreya Jain, ‘Soyi/Khoyi’ is a dreamy musical dive into the exciting aspects of falling in love. This “heartfelt ballad about the maddening nature of falling in love” is produced by musician Nakul Chugh, with singer-songwriter Shreya Jain serving as the composer and writer. Performed by renowned singer Shreya Sharma, her lush vocals light up the song over a somber/indie pop tune.

Hrishi Upadhyay – ‘Masoomi’

Hrishi Upadhyay – ‘Masoomi’

Multi-genre singer-songwriter Hrishi Upadhyay serves up ‘Masoomi,’ an earnest exploration of the dual nature of an individual via Robach Music Group. Inspired by a person’s innocence and shrewdness, ‘Masoomi’ lights up with a wavey/optimistic theme arranged with benign key work and dainty guitar chords from guitarist and music producer Mihirr.

Hrishi, who also takes on the role of producer on this release, describes ‘Masoomi’ as “a simple love song capturing the dual nature of a special person who is innocent yet shrewd.”

Atteev – ‘Manzil’

As far as one of the best ways of absorbing new music goes, live performances are always memorable and that is exactly how singer/producer Atteev treated his fans at the recent Zomaland food and music carnival in Mumbai. Atteev’s new release ‘Manzil’ is a bouncy-chill pop/indie pop theme laced with Hindi lyrics that convey a fearless ambition fueled by optimism. In a statement, Atteev shared, “‘Manzil’ is born out of my deep curiosity to merge diverse rhythms and sonic spaces, mixing Western and Indian influences in its production.”

Since dropping ‘Manzil’ on the day of the festival, the song has amassed over five thousand streams on Spotify at the time of writing.

Gunda – ‘Allah Rakha’

Gunda – ‘Allah Rakha’

Qawwali, Shayari, and house-music artist Tanmay Saxena, under the moniker Gunda, unleashed his latest tapestry of beats and rhythms via his debut album, ‘Allah Rakha.’ Smacked with ten sublime pop, electronic pop, and deep house bangers, with singles ‘Kismat Ke Maare,’ ‘Raat Dhal Chuki Waha,’ ‘Ek Zubani Tere Naam,’ and ‘Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein’ leading the charge.

Written, produced, and performed by Gunda himself, the album also features a fluid electro-house jam in ‘Shukriya.’ ‘Aawargi’ and the record’s concluding tune ‘Prathna’ are enveloped by heaps of acoustic instrumentation, further displaying Saxena’s talents as a musician.

Singer/composer Sourabh Joshi bursts open a Valentine’s Day melody to remember with his newest release, ‘Imtihaan.’ A nearly five-minute soothing piece majestically cobbled together with tidy key segments, melodic whistling chimes via Pinky Poonawala, tender vocals, and delicate production. The artist submits, “Imtihaan is a touching love song that speaks about all the ups and downs one goes through in a relationship.”

Yohan Marshall – ‘Jo Tu Mere Paas Hai’

Yohan Marshall – ‘Jo Tu Mere Paas Hai’

Mumbai-based composer and producer Yohan Marshall follows up his 2023 releases ‘Maan Ja Zara’ and ‘Haan Bhool Jha’ by honoring a longstanding relationship in ‘Jo Tu Mere Paas Hai.’ The versatile singer/songwriter celebrates the bond he shares with his spouse in this composition, stitching together a strummy pop ballad with angelic backing vocals courtesy of vocalist Mallika Barot.

“‘Jo Tu Mere Paas Hai’ is more than just a song; it’s a celebration of the enduring bond between myself and my wife,” says Marshall. “It encapsulates the peacefulness and joy that I find in her presence, and after holding onto this melody for years, I knew the perfect words would eventually find their way to me.”
