pruthvi’s Apprehensions of the Twenties Sparks New Single

Mumbai-based singer-songwriter pruthvi releases a new indie pop single, ‘twentytwo,’ penned as an introspection on the rush of emotions encountered when dashing toward one’s twenties.

‘twentytwo’ is carefully woven with relatable lyrics, everyday life lessons, and an honest take on transitioning from a teenager to an early adult. This single follows up pruthvi’s debut EP ‘songs about you (not for you)’ and is produced by producer and instrumentalist sudan.

pruthvi’s newest arrangement radiates with an indie pop-rock flow with winks of lo-fi and ambient sonics spooned into the music. The track is packed with steady percussive action, strummy guitars, and a smooth vocal presentation.

Speaking about the uneasiness of the twenties that paved the way for this song, pruthvi states, “Understanding that adulting is no walk in the park, it’s full of unexpected twists and turns. It’s chasing big dreams with a side of patience,” further declaring, “Brace yourself for a whirlwind of tattoo regrets, questionable hair dyes, and realizing that ‘forever’ is often a punchline.”

Meanwhile, producer sudan expressed, “Working on ‘twentytwo’ might’ve been the easiest yet the most fun thing I’ve done lately It was just two friends having a bunch of fun, and a song was made as a by-product.”

‘twentytwo’ is accompanied by a music video conceptualized and directed by pruthvi and self-taught photographer Pranav Marde. It captures a 22nd birthday party celebration with the artist swarmed by a rousing bunch of musicians aka ‘The Pretend Band.’

pruthvi made her presence known at Tejas’ Museum EP launch gig at Mumbai’s AntiSOCIAL on April 25, kicking things off alongside Sudan on guitar and Nathan Thampy (brother of Timothy Thampy) on keys. The artist left a solid impression on attendees, performing ‘twentytwo’ as well as music from her ‘songs about you (not for you)’ EP, including tracks ‘stay,’ ‘falling for you,’ ‘better in my head,’ ‘girl next door,’ and ‘strangers on the internet.’
