Babestock 2024 – BABE ATX’s Free and Gender-Expansive Music Festival

BABE ATX is proud to host Babestock, one of the first-ever electronic music events in America, spotlighting women, non-binary, trans, genderqueer, genderfluid, and gender non-conforming artists from Austin and areas nearby! The donation-based festival is slated to take place on June 15 and 16 at Cheer Up Charlies in Austin, Texas. Get your tickets to Babestock 2024 from The Ticket Fairy.

Founded by EDM artists Kelsea aka Hip Stir and Day Pazmino under the alias Damino, BABE ATX or ‘Bad Ass Bitches Elevating Austin, Texas’ is a wholesome community that provides a platform for women, trans, non-binary, genderfluid, and genderqueer performers to hone their skills and become architects of Austin’s buzzing electronic music scene.

Now, the collective ushers in Babestock, an upcoming two-day spectacle chalked in for June 15 and 16 at Cheer Up Charlies nightclub on 900 Red River Street in Austin. Through this exhibition of music and culture, the organizers desire to lift and unite femme and gender-expansive electronic artists. The showcase has a free ticket entry, with donations encouraged.

Peaking into the music card, a stream of house, electro, world music, hip-hop, disco, electronica, breakbeat, minimal, techno, deep tech, trance, bass, and hard techno is set to be unleashed, with the promoters also making sure to book Austin’s underrepresented acts as well as 50% or more BIPOC artists. Top billing sees progressive house, techno, and trance DJ/producer Sarah Pederzani joined by Afro, tech, and Latin house DJ Lina Marz.

A revolving door of musicians arrives in the form of acts Al V Dam, Bad Apple, Blue Lotus, CLINK!, DJ Helios, DJ Loa, DJ Shani, Golden, Golebahar, Illkat, Honey Pocket, Naughty Woke, JUAN40, Katrella, Luisa Houseworks, Lady Lavender, Majesty, Something Blue, Starva, Steph, Venvz, Violeta, and Vivianne Ortiz along with Vanita Darling and Lady Lascivious of the Bad Ass Bitches Electro Sounds DJ Collective. BABE ATX crew members Hip Stir, Damino, Lauren Light, Violeta, MEA CULPA, and Mia D will also be seen behind the deck.

We had an in-depth exchange with open-format DJ Brittany Greer, best known as HoneyPocket, about the festival. A staple in the scene for over a decade, HoneyPocket started DJing at yoga classes, fitness events, weddings, and art galleries, then navigated towards festivals and private parties. At a HoneyPocket set, you’ll find spoonfuls of R&B, hip-hop, beats, jazz, funk, soul, disco, rap, amapiano, Latin, world, and house music.

Babestock 2024 Line-up

“I’m really looking forward to playing at the first electronic music festival showcasing all women and gender-expansive artists,” says HoneyPocket. “In a male-dominated industry, these are the kind of events I want to see more of and be part of. There are so many amazing women out there throwing it down at local bars, clubs, and events – it’ll be really sweet to have many of them working together for this festival.”

HoneyPocket spotlighted the significance of BABE ATX and what this community does for local artists, expressing, “BABE ATX has really been a force in the community – always uplifting and promoting local femme/queer DJs and musicians. They truly embody Bad Ass Bitches Elevating ATX! I also really love Cheer Up Charlie’s. They consistently provide a safe, and fun inclusive space for people of all genders, races, and sexual orientations.”

Concluding our conversation, the artist also gave us a blueprint for a HoneyPocket session. “I know that no matter what time I’ll be playing – I’m going to bring the heat and make the people move! I’m excited to feature sounds from iconic women in the music industry, remixes and blends of familiar tracks, and emerging artists in the electronic music scene. I love digging and hunting for music and can’t wait to share what I’ve found!”
