Swerving away from the gothic-pop motifs of ‘[Endless Loop](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2024/08/05/new-music-releases-july-2024-gini-yohan-marshall-tech-panda-kenzani-and-more)‘ and the gloomy textures of ‘Warriors Weep,’ Riddhi’s third music release staples a 175 BPM pulse and, according to the artist, was conceived [during](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DIqTGD_RsB6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) the challenging times of the lockdown. The track produces marauding bass lines in tandem with the slick DnB marks, accompanied by spirited echoes of, *“I don’t wanna wake up if it’s a dream.”* Stitched in is also an audio clip from Uruguayan synthpop and electropop artist Gina Love’s pop song ‘Falling.’ [REM feat. This song is how my dream sounded to me,” Riddhi said via email exchange. We further spoke with the artist about this new release, probing into its electronic motifs and themes. “‘R.E.M. is about rejecting the chaos and staying in a dream, refusing to wake up. What if the reality was actually a nightmare and the dream was the real thing?” expressed Riddhi. We asked about the inspiration for this beat, a shift from Riddhi’s heavier-sounding ballads with Apocryphal, to which the songwriter shared, “I wouldn’t call that a shift. It is a project that I started very much in parallel. I am deeply inspired by electronic music and, particularly, trip-hop. Portishead, Bjork, AIR, Massive Attack, and Splashdown are some artists that have inspired me not just for Dream Anatomy’s music, but also for my metalcore project Apocryphal.” ‘R.E.M.’ occupies a slot in Dream Anatomy’s upcoming album, ‘I left a long time ago,’ which will be released later this year. As to what we can expect from the album, Riddhi conveyed, “I didn’t want to stick to a specific sub-genre of electronic music, so it will have dnb, dream pop, downtempo, and even trip-hop. I aim to stay more inclined towards trip-hop though, because trip-hop itself is a universe of so many influences coming together – it is what I have been naturally drawn to.
