Springboarding off the success of ‘LaLaLa (Everybody’s Up),’ DJ and producer Sommer Ray debuts a new release on Night Drive from HEDEGAARD-run OneHundred Records.
Model, DJ, and entrepreneur Sommer Ray draws inspiration for her new single, ‘She’s A DJ,’ from late Italian composer and orchestrator Ennio Morricone’s composition ‘Alla Luce Del Giorno,’ found on the 1969 film ‘Metti, una sera a cena.’
Fusing her high-energy productions with vintage cinematic elements, Sommer responds to detractors of female DJs and champions a message of equality and feminine power in the electronic music scene. From the get-go, ‘She’s A DJ’ unleashes a dance-floor-ready beat, ticking with energetic grooves, wavy electro patches, well-timed drops, and satiny vocals.
The lyrics “I got a girlfriend, she’s a DJ, she can slow it down if you can keep the pace” sit wonderfully during the melodic change in tempo two minutes in, before the music ramps back up to a fast-paced dance rhythm.
Sommer Ray has also recently announced dates for the second phase of her Sommer Tour, which includes stops in Mexico, New York, Las Vegas, and the Dog Daze Festival in California. Commencing her DJ career in 2023, model-turned-DJ Sommer Ray has collaborated with artists such as DJ PRESS PLAY (‘Eternal Sommer’), Martin Jensen (‘No Sleep’), and head of the Night Drive and OneHundred label – HEDEGAARD.
