Auckland-based DJ/producer ADDY announces his arrival in the EDM scene with ‘Flip Dat.’

“Created in the early hours following a late-night festival set, the track reflects my unpredictable energy as a performer,” Kiwi electronic artist Adam Howlett, who performs under the moniker ADDY, tells us in an email interview.

Born into a musical family and trained on the piano and drums, ADDY’s sharp listening ear and classical influences have shaped his approach to electronic music. Having dabbled in house and techno, the producer has already shared poster space with names like Marten Horger, Logan D, Upgrade, Delta Heavy, and Pixie Lane thus far.

Just weeks before working the masses at Neck Of The Woods in Auckland, opening for incoming techno maestro HNTR, ADDY has fired off his first official music release.

‘Flip Dat’ from ADDY churns out danceable house vibes coated with crisp percussion and subtle techno sways. Accentuated by its grime-like vocal sample, the bouncy track packs a solid punch with its upbeat bass throbbing and pulsating rhythm.

Speaking about the track, ADDY informed us, “Flip Dat was born from my desire to create a track that flips between tight, Latin-infused percussion and heavy, bass-driven drops, a sonic push-and-pull designed to keep the dance floor on its toes.”

“I wanted Flip Dat to feel like a shaft in the gears, especially to the crowd, at that moment where you think you know where the track is going, and then it hits you sideways. It’s cheeky, it’s heavy, and it’s made for people who dance with their whole body,” he added.

‘Flip Dat’ by ADDY is currently available on all major streaming platforms
