According to a blog post on the platform, SoundCloud will take [zero commission](https://soundcloud.com/playbook-articles/soundcloud-introduces-direct-music-purchases-with-zero-commission) on music sales. This means all the proceeds from each sale, excluding standard fees and taxes, will go to the artists. SoundCloud launched a beta of direct music purchases earlier this month, with about 200 U.S.-based Artist Pro creators having access to sell music directly on their profile. This will eventually be rolled out to eligible creators later this year. With this new feature, fans will no longer have to leave SoundCloud to purchase an artist’s music. Artists will be able to set their prices for tracks and make existing music available for purchase in formats like MP3 and WAV. We’re continuing to bring more of what they need to grow their careers into that same experience, while letting fans directly support the music they love.” At least 250,000 artists have linked more than 2.4 million tracks to external parties. An upward of half a million users have been sent outside of SoundCloud to buy music.
