Scoppa understands how to make small details do the heavy lifting with a tried-and-tested arsenal of crisp percussion, catchy vocal hooks and subtle rhythmic shifts, creating tracks that constantly evolve without ever losing their core pulse. He’s also the founder of COPPADOS, his own label and a natural extension of the musical identity he has developed as an artist. It’s another outlet for his productions, and the imprint gives Scoppa the freedom to build a catalog around his specific take on groove-led dance music while creating space for artists and sounds that fit his vision. He has assumed a wider role as a curator and tastemaker via COPPADOS, using the platform to cultivate a sound and community around the rhythmic, club-focused aesthetic that has become synonymous with his own productions. More importantly, the release embodies Scoppa’s “from Rosario to the world” ethos. There is a clear sense of where the music comes from, but equally a desire to take those influences far beyond Argentina. Named after his hometown of Rosario, the EP feels like a fitting introduction to a producer whose sound has travelled considerably further than the city where it began. Across four cuts, Scoppa works with the kind of rhythmic precision that gives his productions an immediate physical pull, balancing rolling percussion, playful vocal elements and weighty low-end without ever allowing one element to overpower the groove.
