Across eight formative years, the duo discerned a winning formula by finding balance between the sheer kinetic weight of dancefloor-ready engineering while also leaving space for percussion-heavy and atmospheric soundscapes. Releases on Shogun Audio, RAM Records and Dispatch Recordings, among other foundational imprints, confirmed that the approach was landing with the people who matter. But artistic evolution often demands friction, and in 2020 that friction sparked the duo’s radical transformation: they shortened their name from Gerra & Stone to **GEST**. The shift also led to a sonic rebrand that brought their longstanding interest in techno and hardware-driven production further into focus. This new era was sharper, darker and decidedly more tech-heavy, and the duo found a home at Shogun Audio for the sound they were pushing. ‘The Foundation’ EP, ‘Futurism’ and ‘Superstructure’ served as architectural blueprints for a project increasingly comfortable operating at the intersection of drum & bass and techno. Stone is now taking GEST in a completely new direction, his solo work built on everything the duo learned along the way. After fifteen years of releasing music as a duo, the launch of Stone’s own label, Deep Method, is a natural extension of this transition. Designed as the primary home for all future GEST output, the label is the vessel for pushing his signature deep, tech-driven sound into uncharted territory, catering to cutting-edge sounds that can’t be boxed into a single subgenre.
