At the end of its tenure in space, the ISS will be sent crashing down into the Spacecraft Cemetary, an area of the Pacific ocean known as\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/oceanservice.noaa.gov\/facts\/nemo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Point Nemo<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Owing to its distance from land, it has since become a common graveyard for space junk having collected decommissioned satellites, space stations and spacecraft for many years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/science\/space\/nasa-plans-watery-end-space-station-2031-rcna14576\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0to NBC News, \u201cMost objects will burn up as they pass through Earth\u2019s atmosphere, but some fragments can survive.
