Music plays a very big role in Disney movies, whether it brings something out in a character of a film, helps take the story forward, or is just a really fun song that everyone can enjoy listening to. However, Disney or musical films aren\u2019t the only ones who\u2019ve had success in using original songs in their films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many non-musical films have used original songs as a sort of introduction, during key moments in the film or during adventures, or even had characters in the movie singing the song. Plenty of these songs are underrated. Some even deserved to become hits but that is a subject we should get into some other time. Today, we\u2019re going to talk about five songs that became popular because of their inclusion in non-musical animated films!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sunflower &#8211; Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Post Malone, Swae Lee - Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)\" width=\"702\" height=\"395\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ApXoWvfEYVU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no doubt <em>\u2018Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse\u2019 <\/em>is a wonderful film but people also fell in love with its standout track, \u201cSunflower\u201d by Post Malone and Swae Lee. \u2018Sunflower\u2019 topped the Billboard Hot 100. \u201cIt also spent over a year on the chart and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/top-movie-songs-of-all-time\/pharrell-williams-happy-in-despicable-me-2\/\">earned<\/a> a record-tying longest top 10 run in the chart\u2019s 61-year history (at the time of its release in 2018),\u201d as per Billboard. What may come as a surprise to you is that it wasn\u2019t the first choice to be included in the movie, it was the second.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe had this idea that if he sang a song that was out of his register, it would make the audience laugh,\u201d writers Rodney Rothman and Phil Lord <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altpress.com\/post-malone-swae-lees-sunflower-wasnt-initially-in-into-the-spider-verse\/\">revealed<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2019\/02\/how-spider-verse-got-you-to-love-miles-morales-in-45-seconds.html?mid=popsugar\"><em>Vulture<\/em><\/a>. \u201cIt got a big laugh in the preview screening a year ago, but there was one problem: The song we initially used was the Donald Glover song \u2018Redbone.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was critical that the song gag landed. Your feet just magically start moving when you listen to the song, don\u2019t they? Since then, it has become the theme song for its sequels (<em>\u2018Toy Story 2\u2019<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>\u2018Toy Story 3\u2019<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>\u2018Toy Story 4\u2019<\/em>). \u2018You\u2019ve Got a Friend in Me\u2019 has become a major musical component for the sequels and is the franchise&#8217;s main theme. The song was nominated for the 1996 Academy Award for Best Original Song. The song appears in the movie as the opening track and was released as a single two weeks before the movie premiered in theaters. \u2018Accidentally in Love\u2019 was commercially successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It peaked within the top 40 on several music charts. This included the Irish Singles Chart, where it reached number three. It is a song recorded by Shakira, and written by Sia, Tor Hermansen, and Mikkel Eriksen. In the film, \u2018Try Everything\u2019 is first heard when Judy Hopps plays it on her MP3 player on the train to Zootopia and is heard again during the end credits.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The track appears on the soundtrack album to&nbsp;<em>\u2018Zootopia\u2019<\/em>. It was certified 2 times platinum in the United States by RIAA for sales exceeding 2,000,000 units. \u2018Try Everything\u2019 also received a silver certification in the United Kingdom by BPI for sales of over 200,000 units. The song was a hit in various Southeast Asian Nations.
