Singer and songwriter MCK from Auckland, New Zealand, released a brand-new single\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span><\/em>Better<\/span><\/em><\/a>\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/em>with Auckland-based emerging producer and singer Wells* (Josh Naley) on October 2. Pop ballad \u2018<\/span>Better\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/em>is the second single from her upcoming EP\u00a0<\/span>\u2018Hot Sounds\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/em>set to be released later this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

MCK, aka McKenzie Comer<\/a>, has taken pride in crafting real-life experiences and stories into her lyrics candidly. In \u2018Better,\u2019 MCK talks about straying away from a relationship with an ideologically different person, and no attempts to \u2018stay and figure it out\u2019 would mend the relationship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MCK and Wells* harmonize,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWe’re both better when we’re not together, now,\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/em>highlighting the climatic end by letting the other person go. The song, with its catchy and mellow beats, presents a dynamic blend of the artists’ voices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Talking about the inspiration behind the song, MCK\u00a0<\/span>says<\/span><\/a>, \u201cI remember talking to you (Josh) about past relationships, and you were saying how good it felt when you finally actually let go of something\u2026 and I was like, I have definitely felt the same. Like, I felt like I couldn\u2019t leave something, but once you did, it was so much better.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018<\/span>Better\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/em>is followed by her first single\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span><\/em>Muse<\/span><\/em><\/a>,\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/em>which is also produced by Wells*. In early 2020, she put out her self-produced debut EP titled \u2018<\/span>Confessions<\/span><\/em><\/a>\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/em>after a four-year hiatus from music.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MCK was\u00a0<\/span>discovered online<\/span><\/a>\u00a0at 13, who then recorded music and toured internationally as a teenage star under her full name. She paused her flourishing career when she was 16 to meliorate her skills as a musician, and returned under a rebranded title – MCK.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
