After emitting a sliver of their musical prowess into the world on their debut single ‘Bright,’ the Kiwis turn the tide on their sound with the marauding punk-rock release ‘Awkward.’<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marmalade’s new single ‘Awkward’ wanders away from any upbeat indie themes and roars into a heavier punk melody. The single is laced with fast-paced percussive movement, flowing electric guitar segments, and a snappy chorus. Koen and Jemilah share vocal duties, and the song also offers up a sonically spellbinding guitar solo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Much like ‘Bright<\/a>,’ the bulk of ‘Awkward’ was recorded in rhythm guitarist Koen Aldershof’s home studio. The tune features a vocal arrangement from Jemilah and Koen that lyrically explores the diverse viewpoints of two individuals who find themselves in an awkward scenario. According to the band, the new track “navigates the morning-after regret of a situation your extroverted self got you into.”<\/p>\n\n\n
