Since its inception in 1998, when India witnessed its first gig in Mumbai, to a significant dip in the early 2010s, after finally picking itself up in the last 5 years, Drum & Bass has had its fair share of ups and downs.<\/p>\n
In 2021, it is safe to say that Drum & Bass is on a meteoric rise in South Asia, and Sri Lankan producer Sasith Gamage also known as IYRE is one of the finest exports from the region.<\/p>\n
Starting his IYRE alias in 2020 and taking influences from the Techy side of Drum & Bass, IYRE has aced the craft of blending seriously good Liquid numbers with of Subcontinental, Arabic and Tribal music. Just 12 months since his debut, IYRE’s explorations have seen him release his music on labels like Goldfat Recordings, Fokuz Recordings and Celsius Recordings.<\/p>\n
IYRE’s first release, ‘The River’ featuring his long time collaborator Bala Mandala came via Pyxis’ Beats In Mind label and the producer immediately followed up with an appearance on Mitekiss’ Goldfat Records for the label’s FullFat compilation.<\/p>\n[youtube https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HUB5Si6JsPU]\n
‘Fragments’ premiered on UKF, and it defined everything IYRE wanted to bring to the table as a Drum & Bass producer; gritty and flimsy with blushes of eastern melodies.<\/p>\n[youtube https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jrmmYabx04s]\n
IYRE continued his success with a run of stunning releases on Celcius Recordings with 3 soul-soothing singles before locking himself in the studio for his first solo release on Goldfat Records.<\/p>\n
As expected, the Sri Lankan producer is back with a ravishing 2-track EP on the label that gave him his biggest break. The EP starts with \u2018??rama\u2019 which means a place for spiritual study and meditation, and the tune represents every aspect of the title. ‘Zainab’ which in our opinion is IYRE’s best work so far, is a journey into the funky, pensive, and intrinsic world of the producer who is mastering the art of creating atmospheric, uplifting drum and bass.
