He, along with his Hospital Records imprint, has impacted the genre across generations for over three decades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Transforming the liquid drum &amp; bass sound by putting a soulful twist with live instrumentation and emotionally charged vocals, while being omnipresent in every era of drum &amp; bass, London Elektricity has played an inspirational role in the past, present, and also the way drum &amp; bass will continue to sound in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Seven studio albums, three live albums, and numerous singles\u2014it&#8217;s a catalog only a few can boast in the scene. While producing undisputed anthems that still do the rounds in DJ sets, London Elektricity and Hospital Records, since its inception, have nurtured several artists who have now taken on global superstar status. <\/p>\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Flondonelektricity%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0tNaDfTvogkMjT77vQ7JsdK95CCy6WUUk1B4f8bRk6nh51jVWWnWbX8V6e5DpA6sRl&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"609\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Having played the first-ever edition of LOCUS Tulum in 2022, the celebrated drum &amp; bass visionary is now returning for the third time at the festival. As he prepares to mesmerize Tulum with his glittery and emotional DJ sets, we sat down with London Elektricity to know his thoughts on the previous editions of LOCUS Tulum, his upcoming music, and lots more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The general consensus has been that 2023 has flown by, probably faster than any other year. Do you feel the same as well?<\/strong><br><strong>London Elektricity: <\/strong>Well, I have learned that each year goes quicker than the last; and it feels like this year will fly by even quicker. I can feel it already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tell us how the last twelve months have been for you personally in terms of your music.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>London Elektricity: <\/strong>Music, shows, festivals, everything. It&#8217;s been really good, actually. In terms of music, I&#8217;ve been collaborating with a lot of different vocalists and producers on tunes. I&#8217;ve been working with artists such as Anile, Catching Cairo, Conrad Subs, Elsa Esmeralda, who sang on \u2018Just One Second\u2019, Genesis Elijah, Nu:tone, Ruth Royall, Steve BCee, SOLAH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Some of these tunes are now getting finished, which is great. I&#8217;m planning releases on a number of different labels over the next 12 months, which is exciting for me because, in the past, I only ever released drum and bass on Hospital Records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">You know, it&#8217;s really exciting.&nbsp;Obviously, there was Locus in Mexico, the second, because in 2023, that was really special. Playing in the cenote was something I&#8217;ll never forget. Then there were two great shows at Glastonbury Festival, both of which my son played trumpet on. I&#8217;m so proud of him, mainly for standing up and blowing his trumpet in front of thousands of people. That takes a lot of courage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">But I think the highlight of the year for me was playing in Kyiv, Ukraine.&nbsp; They were having such a tough time as well, and just to see happy faces during such a tough time. As a musician, this is really what we can do, you know, to be of service and help, because I feel very passionate about the plight of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">I can&#8217;t fight, I can&#8217;t pick up a gun and go and help because I would just mess things up. Was it the first time you played Vasquez there?<br>London Elektricity: <\/strong>Yes, it was, and that moment was magical. It was quite important for me because, during the lockdown, I was seriously considering just stopping performing all together, and I kind of decided to stop, and then my agent rang up and said \u201cDo you want to go to Mexico?&#8221; It was lovely to open with that tune as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>That was the first edition you played, the second edition as well, and now you&#8217;ll be at the third edition of the festival. Talk us through the experience of the previous two editions of LOCUS Tulum?<\/strong><br><strong>London Elektricity:<\/strong> It was amazing. To begin with, it was very unusual because I think they only went on sale about four weeks before the event started, but Ritesh, who is Mr. LOCUS, was very much of the opinion that he wants to go ahead and do it. I\u2019ve got so much respect for him for doing that because Ritesh is one of those guys who, if he says he&#8217;s going to do something, does it. In terms of the whole experience, I just can&#8217;t wait to get back there, hang out with my Mexican friends, and eat some absolutely delicious carnitas and tacos, because the food there is great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How is the year looking for London Elektricity in terms of music and shows?<\/strong><br><strong>London Elektricity:<\/strong> In the next 10 odd months, in terms of music, like I said at the beginning of the interview, I&#8217;m planning releases on different record labels, and I am just enjoying the process of creating and doing it without any heavy deadlines. In terms of shows, I go off on a USA tour right after LOCUS Tulum, and it will be the first time I will play in America after 2007. Over the last 17 years, I\u2019ve been so busy running Hospital Records, which didn\u2019t allow me any time to go to America . Then there\u2019s going to be a Canadian tour, and then I\u2019m playing in Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong as well.
